I know there are 100% electronicon from ESPRIT and there was one around LA back in October but I never actually been to one. Have any of yall been to one and would you fly out to one if it did occur?

Haven't been to a vaporwave concert (I live in America, in general there isn't a lot of independent electronic music being played live), but I would go see Auragraph if I could, but that's just not close enough to me to justify it. Once I'm done with school, I would go to stuff like 100% Electronicon if there are enough artists I like and the event has production value. The one Vaporwave artist I would fly anywhere to see live when I'm older is Blank Banshee:

The closest I've been to was Neon Retrofest back in 2018. More synthwave but imo taps into the same spirit what with with its carefully crafted aesthetic and lineup. It was dope.

100% Electronicon looks sick af though. I would've gone had I known about it sooner fml

Young Americans are not fond of electronic music. Rap music and moodier pop is what's in style at the moment here, and that audience gets many concerts since (besides vinyl) no one is interested in purchasing music licenses (just about everyone streams with a subscription now).

As for the mainstream era of Electronic in America, that has been fading since young people aren't so into it. Yes, there is the occasionally big artist/s that will play here, such as Justice and Deadmouse, but they need to be popular enough to make it worthwhile here. Most electronic can't achieve this though, so the rest usually happens as the occasional club/bar performance in the densely populated and progressive cities.

I don't live in those types of areas though, so the best I can get without boarding a plane is one of the more mainstream DJ acts playing at a festival a few hours away. Not all of these are my thing either, and here the title of a 'DJ' is too broad in my opinion (I would be quite lucky to see someone actually mixing and playing live House music for instance).

I'm so fundamentally different from people who listen to that which causes fear from attending those events
While I understand the sentiment, I don't think vaporwave is homogeneous enough to think it's rational. Sure you will encounter stereotypes but it's not like metal or punk where the audience is way more defined both internally and externally.

Vaporwave does not seem appropriate for concert music
I agree with this to an extent. There is lots of vaporwave that doesn't take its sound to the next level when played live. I saw in the past that Aloe City had a live Barber Beats concert. If you're playing blatant sample flips live, there should be some real-time percusssion and sample chopping on an MPC, where they can add their own rhythm to the music. Imagine if Blank Banshee just played back his tracks on Ableton Live and chilled. That would suck because there isn't the budget for crazy visuals like at a festival. We are there to feel the artist's connction to their music in real-time.

Got to see Blank Banshee's 4D tour live in Austin and it was awesome. I need an official recording of that Bathsalts remix straight from the mixer :pepelisten:

Only disapointment is that he didn't play Mindtrap. That's the flagship track of Gaia in my opinion and that album never got its own tour because of covid. Yeah he would play the demo of that track in previous tours, but I prefer the Gaia version with Cormorant's vocals.

Don't know about a real concert but I got to see Saint Pepsi at a rooftop bar in NYC; I think it was 2017. He played an acoustic set that included "Fiona Coyne". Only about 10 of us there were there to see him, the rest of the bar regulars looked very confused lol

Closest thing to that for me was when I met with Kyonpalm at a city pop DJ he performed.
I'd really like to see Saint Pepsi or Yung Bae live someday. I'm not sure if the more mellow stuff like corp or barber beats in general would make for a good live show, I'm used to high energy/chaotic concerts.

I think laid back Vaporwave like Barber Beats wouldn't be so bad while I'm sitting down in a restaurant. The problem would be convincing a high-end restaurant host that your slowed down Jazz on an SP-404/MPC Live is better than an actual Jazz band :CRYLAUGH:

We do tape bashes at the [redacted]. basically just getting everybody to do some work on projects while getting exposed to new music.

Some times 20 people will show up sometimes 200. I feel vaporwave being ambient music you need to have an proper ambient to compliment it, Its basically party music but for doing things to instead of partying.
