I read a lot. I like to think that it's good for the mind but that's probably just me projecting. I've been rereading thebook of the new sun series and its a lot better then i remember it being. Going to read the dying earth series afterwards

Reading has become my favorite hobby at this point lol, that or writing. I just end up feeling overwhelmed, I'm not a very smart person and there's so much to learn out there! My favorite books are literature and history. Right now I'm trying to read anything I can find on Flannery Oconnor, and on the side, I'm reading Hitler's National Socialism by Rainer Zitelmann.

I did a lot of reading in my spare time, and the one book I would recommend to my fellow book veterans is Cold Eye by Giles Blunt. Both the best and hardest book to read I have ever read.

Take a look at literally any of these threads and that question should be answered clearly.

It's no, the answer is no; no one here reads they look at a bunch of word soup and if they detect enough disagreeable vibes they launch into a mad furious reply, mind you; they do not read it. It doesn't matter how they respond because no matter how much thought was put into it, the reply will never actually be read, merely observed. Upon observing the reply someone will either vibe with it or against it, which results in potential for yet another spiral of response or perhaps in agreeable vibe scenarios the user might leave a "like" or reaction of some sort. This simple but efficient system of perpetual and literal "vibe checks" are the only form of true communication here. The words are all extra flavor text for the few bots and government spies among us to continue believing we're actually talking using linguistics and thus never digging deeper to understand our true form of communication is through untraceable and undetectable "vibes"

Sure hope some idiot doesn't come along and explain this all really clearly with fucking WORDS or anything. God that'd be stupid.

I've been too busy to read much lately, but here's some good books I've finished this year:
The Man Who Was Thursday by GK Chesterton, That Hideous Strength by CS Lewis, Bronze Age Mindset by Bronze Age Pervert, Forest Passage by Ernst Junger, and Rendezvous with Rama by Arthur C Clarke

I read quite a bit. Most other forms of entertainment bore me, they don't have enough substance to engage me. I'm between big books right now, finished The Origin of Wealth (breezier than I thought!) and am onto Strategy by Freedman - after I finish up a little stack I compiled of shorter texts, a few novels and something on Japanese death poems I'm within right now.

I love reading, but I can't find the time to do it as much as I used to. I do like to spend half an hour to an hour before bed reading every night if I can, though. Sometimes I fall asleep while reading (reading for a prolonged time has always made me sleepy) and its very frustrating, but at least its not like a show or movie that keeps going while you snooze.

I primarily read fiction (I love nonfiction, but my job requires reading a lot of technical texts and its not necessarily what I want to do when I get home), especially of the fantasy and scifi nature.
Some of my favourite series are:

Warhammer 40k
Horus Heresy ; Read the first 19 books
Soul Drinkers ; Read 7 main novels and Daenyathos ( didn't know Traitor by Deed was out until just now)
Blood Ravens Dawn of War Omnibus
Various Space Hulk Novella
Dark Chalice
Fist of the Imperium

Piers Anthony
Apprentice Adept ; Finished
Bio of a Space Tyrant ; Read the first 4
Xanth ; Read the first 5 I think and then some random inserts in the series
Mode ; Read the first book
Incarnations of Immortality ; Finished 7 of the 8
Triple Detente

I've also been known to read Shakespeare and, while I greatly enjoy a Comedy of Errors, I find most of his work to be overrated.

When it comes to nonfiction, I typically read histories about Rome, Japan, and China, and whatever other random topic flirts with my interest (just finished an interestingly comprehensive read on audio engineering).

Yes, I believe reading is good for both the mind and the soul.
Currently I am working my way through 'Roman History' by Dio Cassius and from there I plan to re-read an old copy of Herodotus.
My favourite books are 'Childhood, Boyhood, Youth' by Leo Tolstoy and 'Don Quixote' by Cervantes.

Don Quixote is every bit as good as Literature departments esteem it. It's a personal favorite of mine as well

I used to read more when I was in high school. In college I've gotten into audio books because I can still get the story while cleaning dishes or other cleaning tasks. Also being able to listen before bed was life saver last term when I'd come home in the middle of the night and have zero energy for anything. (Academic books don't translate well to audiobooks bc I can never take notes or annotate them.) The last two books I finished were in the same series, The Sympathizer and The Committed which were really good.

I wanna read properly again over the summer but finding good books is really hard.
