I don't think there's any thread on the topic yet so here we go.

What are your opinion on movement shooters? What do you like, dislike about them? Do you have any favourites?

For the uninitiated movement shooters are "shooting games where you have a high degree of control of how your character moves around the world." according to Urban Dictionary.
A great video series talking about them would be funke's, which actually introduced me to the subgenre. You can find the first video in the series below.

Funk's a great gaming, with exceptions, channel.

Anyway some personal favourites would be Ultrakill and Titanfall 2

Ultrakill is pretty much Devil May Cry with guns. You can find a great video by Leon Massy on it below

Titanfall 2, while less mechanically complex than ultrakill in movement, has mechs and multiplayer, making it up in full
Either way they're both great games.

Anway what's your thoughts?

I love Unreal Tournament 1999, which is old-school arena shooter. Doesn't have advanced movement mechanics, but what's there you can pull some crazy stuff with. Jumping, dodging, impact hammer bouncing, rocket jumping, translocation (throwable teleporter). Could do rudimentary wallriding off map geometry "slope boosts", bunny hopping ofc

In the later unreals they added walljumping, where you could bounce off walls if you hit your dodge key, could pull of some nutty movement tricks with that, but ut99 is always my favorite for aesthetic reasons.

I have a visual impairment so I can't really play fast paced or shoot 'em up games very well. That said I think these games have cool atmospheres and aesthetics a lot of the time.
