R*ddit Cringe

I am gonna give my unwashed neckbeard opinion(which are the most respected group inside gamingsphere), Metroidvania is the best genre and every other game genre ever sucks dick.
Fat.

If this is your entire scope of gaming genres and also somehow think gacha shit is somehow on a higher level than walking sims I suggest you try some real games.
Also why do you disparage several genres and categories such as walking sims, narrative adventurers or Cinematic games, implying they're invalid games and then - in the same post - cry about "elitist maggots"?
Your post reads like it was written by 2 people.
Agreed, imo the best kind of gaming is the comfy standalone experiences that allowed you to disconnect from the world (and the internet!) like Disco Elysium or Baldurs Gate back in the day.

Now that we're also talking gaming, what would be the most >redditcostanzayeahrightsmirk game? God of war? Assasin's creed? Those weird porn games that're always top of the list on steam?

I dunno if it's the most >redditcostanzayeahrightsmirk game but I think undertale should get a special mention. Undertale is a very good game but it is so absurdly overrated and >redditcostanzayeahrightsmirk praises all its worst aspects the most highly, especially the writing, which sucks. The story and worldbuilding are absolute garbage, and the characters, while memorable, aren't anything spectacular. For the first week or so after its release the fanbase for undertale was awesome, sharing how to get all the different endings and was generally pretty high-quality, but then it exploded on >redditcostanzayeahrightsmirk (and many other sites) and the fanbase completely went to hell, renowned to this day as one of the most cringeworthy and embarassing the internet has to offer.

It needs to be pretentious and 2deep4u despite being shallow af soo i would vote Dragon's Dogma or Nier. I thought they would be obsessed with indie games because those games are usually more progressive but they just pretend giant japanese studios that sell millions of copies are indie studios with barely any income or play indie games after they sell quite a lot. They probably love those shitty jrpg's with characters that are just 3 quirks in a coat and insanely complicated but bad stories because those are peak 2deep4u but i can't talk about how they actually are, i don't play japanese games.

pic related (I actually played Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and this is true. Especially the combat, I hated the combat, just one long extended slapfight and there are multiple boss battles where you win the battle but lose in the following cutscene anyway, which is a trope I can't STAND. Haven't played Xeno 1 though so IDK about that one being better)

I, uh, like nier and drakengard (story and music, the gameplay's meh at best)

I'd say persona 5 is a pretty >redditcostanzayeahrightsmirk game at a glance, especially compared to OG SMT and persona 1 and 2.

Witcher 3 at least if you were in the PCMR community primarily. Very le "pro-consumer!"

To be fair, there is some basis for this. Witcher 3 might be euro-jank but overall it's really good and fun to play and compared to other AAA games it's really up there. Plus you play as a gigachad so even better. And the game serves as a solid flagship for the GOG platform which claims to be DRM free.

Just about any japanese game ever has some insanely complicated UI and have no quality of life features and sometimes straight up features to just annoy the player. Even great games like DS 2 had horrible UI(not bad looking, bad).

A game being >redditcostanzayeahrightsmirk doesn't make it bad, i love Hollow Knight and that game is >redditcostanzayeahrightsmirk AF. If it was made by a japanese studio or by a big studio i would just say "HK is the most >redditcostanzayeahrightsmirk game" and be done with this. I am pretty sure you didn't play Nier like a redditor would.

I was going to say Witcher 3 too but it is more of a good game than a >redditcostanzayeahrightsmirk game.

In my mind, ">redditcostanzayeahrightsmirk" used as an adjective means something that's aggressively mediocre. Something or someone who comes across as very self-satisfied despite being boring and predictable in all aspects. Games that give me this feeling are Borderlands, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Hogwarts Legacy, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and the modern Far Cry and Saint's Row games. All flashy big-budget games that everyone seems to tacitly acknowledge as unexceptional despite their popularity. There are plenty of other games I dislike with fans that will actively defend them. These games are different. I've never heard anyone rate them better than "it's okay," and yet they get a huge amount of attention.

Hollow Knight is automatically not >redditcostanzayeahrightsmirk despite being a >redditcostanzayeahrightsmirk darling not just for how crazy good it is, but because Team Cherry did a Q&A to get feedback on the game, and the absolute mongrel retards on >redditcostanzayeahrightsmirk told them that the map was too confusing and they wanted it to be easier and more streamlined, but Team Cherry ignored them (as courteously as they could) because they liked the map design and how the player had to use given hints to find their own way around.

That's how I feel about Shantae, even though I love Shantae. She has a super-cute artstyle and the character designs and setting are all very memorable, (it also has some great tracks but most of the music is whatever) and that is the only thing about those games that stand out. They are so aggressively mediocre, and it hurts because I want to see them do well but I don't think they deserve even the relatively niche amount of attention they currently have.

I was replaying HK today. I was confident enough to use unbreakable strenght for most of the game and i still get lost without compass. The map is the casual filter and it works as intended.
