I was going to post a Santa Claus gangnam style parody but felt like being sincere instead, so here's the best version of this carol I've ever heard (seriously.)
Merry Christmas everyone.
Saw a well-dressed old guy on the train who was listening to a dedicated mp3 player with audiophile-grade IEMs while watching vtuber, tech reviewer, and gun videos on his phone, which had a Cyberpunk 2077 background. I guess you never grow out of it.
Kind of wish I had got the chance to strike up a conversation with him but I couldn't think of anything better to say than "excuse me sir, but I couldn't help but notice that you're also a massive nerd."
Chud's Law: Because the rise and fall of historical civilizations tends to happen at an imperceptibly slow rate relative to the average human lifespan, the phrases "the west has fallen" and "nothing ever happens" are not mutually exclusive and can generally considered to be true for any given historical period.
New installment of the Agora Road Book Club is up. We're reading Ubik by Philip K. Dick. It's short, relatively accessible, thought-provoking, and fun! If you ever thought about joining in the past but were put off by the page count, now's your chance. I'm hoping to see a lot more engagement this time around, since the book suits the "Agoracore" aesthetic fairly well.

Reading anything about technology written in the early 2000s is like walking through a minefield where the mines are having to hear Second Life described as the future of the internet.
Anyone know a good free email provider that would be appropriate for a "professional" email address for resumes, etc.?
I don't want to make another gmail account but I also don't trust the cockmail guy with my real name.
My generation's equivalent of acid flashbacks is going to be suddenly remembering snatches of opening and ending songs from anime you watched decades ago and have completely forgotten, including the title.
How the hell do you motivate yourself to put mental effort into something you don't care about?
It's so easy for me to do boring, but necessary, physical tasks (moving boxes, doing the dishes, cleaning up a room) and so hard to do their mental equivalents (writing a work email, typing up a report, doing my taxes, etc.) Forcing myself to actually think about boring things is insufferable.
