• Donate and support Agora Road's Macintosh Cafe to keep the forum alive and make any necessary upgrades to have a more pleasant experience! In addition, you will be able to have "moods" enabled on your profile and have donation only awards! Update: I configured the site with Brave Browser, so you can send tips to the site with BAT.

You can now donate directly to the forum without signing up for patreon. You will still have all of the same perks in patreon but its now one less sign up method. It will be under Account Upgrades

  • All right how do I get an admin to directly intercede and let all the pending registrations through? People are lined up at the door. Why is this not a manual process?
What's the story with this site and registration? Have you guys heard of people getting stuck waiting for a confirmation email that never comes? Could an admin perhaps help if someone was stuck at some point in the process?
Now why does a forum need a character-limit on posts? If I want to write ten pages in response to someone I'm going to. Having to split into multiple posts just disturbs my flow.

Without a character limit, arbitrarily large files could be transfered [sic] using Agora Road's server. Although computer memory is much cheaper than it was 30 years ago, it isn't free. This is especially true as you scale the problem up. As a result, it makes sense to limit the size of posts.
    Consider this doggo:

Apparently the character limit on Agora is 20,000 characters. Assuming that this means UTF-8 characters, the max post size for text is 80,000 bytes (which is being rather generous since most characters are a single byte). In other words, the max post size is roughly 1/17th the size of this dog

The post limit shouldn't be abolished. It should just be adjusted to match what we're already allowed to post in other formats. Even a 10x bump in the limit would stop a lot of complaints

I agree, there's no reason for the limits to be different. The limit for media files might be too high because I can
    get away with this.

You can also do more than that by just splitting your encoded data up across multiple posts already :dancrobot:
