• I added an agora current events board to contain discussions of political and current events to that category. This was due to a increase support for a separate board for political talk.

  • I'm making a Manhattan-themed deck of cards---which I'll be selling at a pop-up stand for any interested New York dwellers!!. Here are a couple of the newest additions (there will be five cards total in the deck).

    @Math Equal Angelic Mantra Yo the day I sell NFT's is the day I will personally give you my address to come and shoot me in the face. No haha, as cool honestly as @kimn 's suggestion is, I'm creating small decks of trading cards that can be personalized for stuff like small businesses, locations, individuals, etc. There's a larger philosophy behind it---it's explained in the paper I wrote, found at the bottom of my website, but it's like 60 pages long so I totally get it if you don't read---but the general idea is they're just small, fun characters that people can collect from places they like. I've attached an example of one of the cards below, which you can scan if you want and see what I mean.

    I like your idea even though it does feel "gimmicky." I do know novelty business cards are a thing, cards that can be used as instruments or have a USB flashdrive hidden on on them, so making them collectible isn't the most far off thing. If you want to go the extra mile, you can try pitching this idea to the local tourism board and you have guaranteed customers in which you sell directly to the businesses/tourist spot operators, though there is a chance they may just "reject" your proposal and then start doing their own collectible cards for tourist traps.

    Link me to your paper, and I'll have a look.

    @Math Equal Angelic Mantra Thanks!! They are a little gimmicky for sure, I'm play on sort of a "homegrown bake sale" kind of feel for them, but you're still right, that's just kind of a roundabout way of saying gimmicky. I really do think the paper---especially the short story embedded in it---adds an ethos. Thanks for being willing to read!:

    (please forgive me for piggybacking on a corpo site, I'm trying to port it over to my own website but it's gonna take time)

    If you have anything for me to read, feel free to let me know!

    In the near-future, following a brief nuclear war, 7 corporations have taken the responsibility of managing and motivating humanity to its new future.

    After franchising the IP of every country on the planet, the corporations pooled their resources and created the Corporate Internet, a sprawling virtual reality where everything from interstellar travel to online shopping is only a click away.

    On the Corporate Internet—the C-net, CorpoNet, Company Web, Cointernet, Corp, the Mall—one can find massive human-digital structures the likes of which have never been seen before. Structures like:

    The 7 Continents Mall, a vast and complicated shopping complex and mechanized wonderland housing every company in the world, where 98% of people spend a majority of their time;

    the Cosmodex, a seedy space port frequented by -nauts of every kind in digital time, as well as the Cosmo-Corps, the official peacekeepers of the Corporate Internet;

    the Hills, an endless liminal Frutiger Aero recreation space;

    FiDi, the financial core of the planet's economy;

    and the Boardroom, a single small-ish room where the Division Heads of 7Co meet to decide humanity's next move.

    Just arriving on the scene is Walden—Wally—a young new hire by UMI Corp, one of the largest of the 7Co.

    Wally's signed a three-year virtual work contract in the hopes of earning enough credibility and coin to buy the dream: his very own website.

    While on the job as an UMI Corp Customer Relations Associate, Wally will run into a mix of real people and real-enough computer programs trying to navigate their way through the ladder of the Corporate Internet.

    He'll also accidentally stumble into some confidential—and pricey—information that could change the entire nature of the Corporate Internet, and send humanity back to the Stone Age, or forward to a time unknown.

    Between virtual reality and reality, corporate espionage, sentient computer programs, furious online shoppers, astronaut bar fights, lost love, arcade games, and the impending digital apocalypse, only one thing's for certain in the Mall: it's all real here.
