What really sets a man apart from a beast and from a boy is his capacity and drive for change. Not change in a raw, indiscriminate and chaotic sense, but change in the context of improvement. He is a perfectionist, however he does not have to be perfect. A man's strive for perfection by way of improving upon and maintaining himself and his surroundings is what provides meaning to his life.
Man can never be God, because God is perfect in every sense of the word. However, it is man's quest to elevate himself to stand beside God that makes him more than a beast.
He exists as an intermediary between the eternal and perfect spirit and the ephemeral imperfect material due to his being made up of both.
