Underrated Anime films

I know it's actually pretty mainstream, but I Want To Eat Your Pancreas was a great film. Given its popularity, I wouldn't call it underrated but I feel like it could have more light shed upon it.

The live action one was pretty good I remember.

I would like to add Midori to this list. It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen and it makes me sick, not in a good way. It might possibly even been banned in your country. But for some reason I still think about it after 4 years since I've watched it to the point that I think it was incredible in retrospective. You guys should give it a watch just for the experience.

Haven't seen anyone recommend Spriggan (1998 movie), so dropping it here. Really good scifi action film.

As electronics engineer, i love the subject matter and it also talks about politics which is rare in anime.

I came in here to post this. So il lthrow in some screenshots, and also ad Sol Bianca a really fun underrated anime about female space pirates destroying a solar empire to help some kid save his mom.

It's almost entirely free of modern pandering fanservice, though there is one extremely brief nipple slip and my VHS copy has the a preview for Devil hunter Yohko with the naked transformation sequence :D

It's a miniseries but Angel Cop is enjoyable if you enjoy 80s action and kinda cheesy English dubs.

not sure if this is underrated or not as I have very limited knowledge in the anime films area but I saw Ghost in the Shell and thought it was good

Not underrated but good choice. Watch the rest of it too, GITS 2 is my favourite. Also must-watch are Akira and Jin-Roh, and then Lain of course (but thats not a movie)

I dont know if this has been posted here but FIST OF THE NORTH STAR is one of the coolest and underrated films in anime. Sure it essentially encapsulates a summary of one of the story arcs of a season into a movie but it is ASOLUTLY BRUTAL!
