Although it started in 1999, The Big O is and always will be my favorite mecha and is definitely in my top 10. The setting, music and characters are so stylish and oozes this incredible neo-noir theme and reminds me a lot of the game Snatcher. It's also a combination of Batman: The Animated Series and Neon Genesis Evangelion. I highly recommend it.

Anyone else remember Welcome to the NHK? One of the first animes I can recall that properly delved into the mental health crisis that was becoming (and still is) prevalent throughout Japan. It covered it all; from suicide, depression, social isolation, to even the roping in of desperate people into pyramid schemes. I originally watched it back when I was 14 but the anime has really stuck to me over the years and how it to braved touchy subject matter.

The anime was too sanitised. Try the book. It is my favourite example of surrealism. I am still reading the manga but it seems good so far.

07-Ghost is the first anime I watched that just ended way too early and left me hanging bad. I don't think many people have seen it, but it's a pretty good one. It has a cool setting and interesting magic system.

Can't believe no one mentioned FLCL. God damn, the sequels were total ass.

If you haven't seen Black Lagoon, stop what you're doing and go watch it right now. If you have seen Black Lagoon, go watch it again.

Ah, this takes me back. I used to watch anime with my ex wife in the 2000s. I see that the great Satoshi Kon is already represented (god tier shit for sure and definitely my favorite from this era). A couple that I remember that were great in different ways:

For those that are a little more obscure, Monster was great. Pretty long though for an anime series, I'm remembering like 70+ episodes?

For something dumb and lighthearted for when you're high or something, I always liked Hare and Guu:

What did the basketball bat kid represent then?
The baseball bat kid represented possibility of the hardship of specific trauma in our lives tempering us in to better people, for it's impossible for us to grow without struggle, even it it's unpleasant for us in the moment.

I recently watched Hidamari Sketch (2007)! It was really lovely. I'm not sure if there is something specific about CGDCT series from the 00's, but I've really got a soft spot for them. That, and Ume Aoki, whose art was the reason I watched the series in the first place. Highly recommended if you're looking for something healing and light-hearted. Bonus points if you like art, but the series isn't that focused on it and is fully enjoyable even if you don't!

lol, if he had known 6. Almost everyone will agree that we live in a deeply troubled society. One of the most widespread manifestations of the craziness of our world is leftism, so a discussion of the psychology of leftism can serve as an introduction to the discussion of the problems of modern society in general.

wow. i dont support what he did. only that idk could teach it at schools first than to do the wrong order. how world would look like XDDD imagine. 10. By "feelings of inferiority" we mean not only inferiority feelings in the strict sense but a whole spectrum of related traits; low self-esteem, feelings of powerlessness, depressive tendencies, defeatism, guilt, self-hatred, etc. We argue that modern leftists tend to have some such feelings (possibly more or less repressed) and that these feelings are decisive in determining the direction of modern leftism.

    22. If our society had no social problems at all, the leftists would have to INVENT problems in order to provide themselves with an excuse for making a fuss. - well, seems like that political blamegame to me... middle class to solve climate crisis etc. ...

    26. Oversocialization can lead to low self-esteem, a sense of powerlessness, defeatism, guilt, etc. One of the most important means by which our society socializes children is by making them feel ashamed of behavior or speech that is contrary to society's expectations. (is this me?...)

    35. Everyone has goals; if nothing else, to obtain the physical necessities of life: food, water and whatever clothing and shelter are made necessary by the climate. But the leisured aristocrat obtains these things without effort. Hence his boredom and demoralization.36. Nonattainment of important goals results in death if the goals are physical necessities, and in frustration if nonattainment of the goals is compatible with survival. Consistent failure to attain goals throughout life results in defeatism, low self-esteem or depression.37, Thus, in order to avoid serious psychological problems, a human being needs goals whose attainment requires effort, and he must have a reasonable rate of success in attaining his goals.

TIL Still, he suggested that the "swamping effect" of all that information, much of it unreliable, combined with people's shortened attention spans, had given "large organizations," with their vast resources, more power than average people had to exert influence online. But, Kaczynski admitted, there was still much he didn't know about the Internet. In subsequent letters, Murphy and her students pointed to the power of Facebook and challenged his suggestion that individuals couldn't command attention and create influence via the Internet, citing people who posted videos that went instantly viral on YouTube."I have no idea what YouTube is," Kaczynski replied. What did it mean to go "viral," he asked. "It sounds as if the phenomena you refer to are what sociologists call 'fads' or 'crazes,'" he wrote, citing an entry on "collective behavior" from the 2003 edition of the Encyclopaedia Britannica.
