Hey.
Things are getting a lot worse a lot more quickly for anyone who has a desire to still be switched on, and connect with their world, their past, themselves, and their culture in a meaningful way. It feels like this new torrent of "content" is flushing out any remnants of anything previous in our society, it's so effective it feels almost deliberate. We no longer talk about desirable moral values, or ways of behaving in society, or have any reverence for anything that came before us or is potentially greater than us. Are you riding along with all of this shit and losing your way, and where you came from as well? It feels pretty hard to hold onto what made and makes life special at the moment, especially when so many other people have let go of it. Intellectual culture has completely dried up, we only really have nascent animalism waiting at the gate. The barrier between the restrained self and the uninhibited fantasy post collapse type mind is really quickly eroding. I feel like they're going to intersect pretty soon and the leeve is going to break.

Our "culture" has been replaced with generalized slop forcefed to the masses through mainstream media to where even intellectual conversations would be based on said generalized slop and not organic thought. In other words our culture has been destroyed, it's not that they want us to have no brain, it's that they want to program you to either take the slop, or to think you're a free thinker. That is why I believe the solution is to stay out of the mainstream, trends like the AI Ghibli art are being used to further destroy the culture, they generalize things so they're turned into slop that no original content can come out of.

Go to a Roman Catholic or Orthodox Church, and you'll see people still have reverence for tradition, ritual and hold and ascribe to some moral values.

What you've described is pretty much a psyop against those who are terminally online. What you get out of it, is manufactured consent, money and some control of the narrative which is helpful for politics-- and technocrats find all 3 to be useful. If you're close enough to the problem to see it, you're a subject of these Technocrats, the same as most people here who complain about social media. The only antidote is to stop being terminally online, but it's easier said than done.

I don't think this is culture, this is pop-culture. Culture is a lot wider and comes and goes over centuries and includes the general behaviour and personality of the folks. Britons for example with the stiff upper lip. Pop-culture comes and goes, new fashion goes in-vogue and out of style, it's just about making money off of trends. Proper culture is legitimised over centuries of consistency in the country. This is why the west is such a Christian culture, as it's been legitimised over centuries- America with Manifest destiny, Britain with the Monarchy and the CofE. In the west I've noticed this as a rise in "Christian Agnosticism", which is upholding the values of Christianity(Golden Rule, forgiveness, treating your neighbours well etc) without any of the belief.

Another form of this culture is in etiquette and manners. I certainly think this is on the decline in the west, but good manners and good etiquette still exists and remains strongly ingrained in some cultures. In Britain this goes a level beyond as even our dogs are supposedly better behaved than other countries(probably due to how walkable many towns and cities are, and the population density of the island). Another point of this culture is in symbol differences. The tick as an example, but also what colours mean(Green = Salt and Vinegar Crisps, Blue = Cheese and Onion).

Personally I do think the mainstream media has an effect on culture, but this effect is usually measured in decades, and often not as much down to mainstream media so much as down to technological progress or to economic conditions. As an example the amount of Pub goers in the UK has gone down, but this has much more to do with economic conditions than it has to do with mainstream media portraying alcohol in a generally unfavourable way.
