Weren't Zepelins discontinued because of how slow and energy reliant they were?

Though idk the history of the event, that german crash somehow managed to tank their public image, whereas planes still have (rare) and graphic accidents to this day and nobody cares. I wonder if there's some post hoc reasoning with Zepelins. I'm probably just ignorant though lmao

If I had to guess it's probably because of wartime propaganda. I know the crash happened before the war started but there were already a lot of media campaigns against Hitler and they were all turned up full force once the fighting got underway.
