Yeah./x/ became the default spirituality board since it was the closet board that could cater to it. Sort of fucked over people who just wanted spooky stories but weren't ever "true believers." I also feel there is a generational thing going on, with Millenials largely being secular growing up during they hey day of fedora atheism, where as Zoomer's have just been raised in cultural ruble and seem more open to woo.
Honestly /lit/ /his/ and /x/ were the boards which "suffered" the most from there not being a religion & philosophy board. The reason I would go to /x/ from time to time is that you could come across someone talking about a religious/esoteric practice that you never heard of. Granted it was very superficial but you could go into the rabbithole from there.
I guess if you just wanted spooky stories some anon posting about the music of the spheres would've been annoying, but I found that more interesting.
