• I added an agora current events board to contain discussions of political and current events to that category. This was due to a increase support for a separate board for political talk.

or you just have an over glorified horror short story board.
aka /x/ in the golden days :CryLaughing:
A board that really went to shit was /mu/. It always had a smarmy ironic posting style, but you could actually talk about things on there. The irony poisoning was so bad you can't even discuss anything, with the only threads that got traction being political bait or kpop. I think something like over half the posts on /mu/ was just the kpop thread. The board also has the taint of helping catapult Anthony Fantano to stardome.
Never been to /mu/ (well I visitited EVERY board at least once, even the weird porn boards, just to see what's happening) much but that one time I was there I also did see a LOT of K-Pop shit. I think 4chan in general had a few extremely Kpop obsessed anons since sometimes in random thread on random boards you'd get one anon attaching kpop girl pics/webms to every one of their posts, despite it being unrelated. Speaking of:
This is basically avatarfagging, even if it's not the same girl every time. But always attaching the same kind of image without relation to the topic to your posts makes you recognisable but was rarely ever adressed by the mods.

God the 4chan staff was so damn retarded. I'm sending them another mail today I think.

full blown larping
I had someone from /x/ tell me they were a werewolf and turned into a wolf mid-sex and then just ran-off to the forest butt-naked.

I'm not sure if /x/ was larp, I think it was just plain schizophrenia at some point. Some people do hold onto "occultism" as a way to magical-thinking solve their every problem or feel important. Said people sometimes just straight-up go nuts, like my 'werewolf' friend.
A ton of people in /x/ were also unironically junkies or mentally ill.

I thought it was just me. I thought I had just grown arrogant over the years from all my extensive exploring of classical and underground rock. And while that might be the case, I really think the board just sucks. There is hardly any discussion of the actual merits of the music nor even an attempt to passionately articulate how it makes them feel. It's just shitty gossip about musicians and when its not that its this retarded back & forth of "[x] is great, you PLEB. Nuh uh, [x] SUCKS. No, you got filtered. No, you're a psued. Its MID." HERP DERP. I'd rather browse a YouTube comment section full of normies posting cringe than read this trash. Honestly, what is the point of having discussions like this? It's not even funny.

As the saying goes "never cast pearls before swine". That's really the impression I get from /mu/. That of pearls being casted before swine. These people are as inadequate at grasping great art as they would be at grasping molecular biology. If you're a simpleton I'd rather not hear your bargain bin takes on art or medical science. Just tell me about the latest ball sports game.
Never been to /mu/
This is a special thing. People who've had the misfortune of wasting their time on /mu/ will envy you.

A very sensible first impression of anyone visiting /mu/ would be to move the KPOP to a containment board. But then /mu/ would still be a shitty pointless board afterwards.

Now that 4chan is hacked and deleted, I'm wondering where the goers of that website will go to next.
(It wouldn't shock me if they move to Anon.cafe, Endchan, or something.)
i have some sad news for you, anon.cafe got shut down. my fondest memory one that site was when i found a bunch of isis/al-qaeda links in the /islam/ board. they were probably british

This is a news thread so I am going to derail it for my own desires.

I've tried using Tarot and it's more of an introspection technqiue rather than a form of divination. You are essentinally forcing yourself to make sense of a few vague notions which can expose subconsciousness thoughts more effectively. Useful, but isn't divination.

Yeah it's basically just the coinflip trick: If you have a difficult decision to face with conflicted feelings flip a coin. Your reaction to the outcome of the flip can be extremely telling. That's no magic however as you said.

Our wannabe sorcerer here however thinks he can oogle some sweaty palms and then predict the future.

Yeah I use larping in the loosest term, I too think that that board was essentially a mental asylum. Also lots of people dragging each other down and confirming each others wildest deusions. Like imagine having schitzo hallucinations and visiting /x/ where everyone just believes everything you say and also confirms your fucked perception. that must be poison for the already ill mind.

4chan is back up. All the stickies are gone too interestingly.

Will be interesting to see how long it'll be back up for though, part of me doesn't think they fixed fundamental issues

Yeah.
Honestly /lit/ /his/ and /x/ were the boards which "suffered" the most from there not being a religion & philosophy board. The reason I would go to /x/ from time to time is that you could come across someone talking about a religious/esoteric practice that you never heard of. Granted it was very superficial but you could go into the rabbithole from there.
I guess if you just wanted spooky stories some anon posting about the music of the spheres would've been annoying, but I found that more interesting.
I discovered hermeticism, through a book recommedation on /x/, which led me to discovering various occult youtubers, and learning about stuff like thelema, chaos magick, al kindi's theory of magic etc. I didn't even go on 4chan that much. I didn't even go to deep into the rabbit hole, but I discovered alot of stuff, that I probably wouldn't have found, on my own

let me guess. it looks exactly the same with the exact same userbase? I really lost all the interest to go there now that I know over 50% of posts are bots and Israelis

Devil's Advocate: What is there left to plunder? Surely hacking it again (or continuously) isn't as worthwhile as what's already been achieved.

It's not about plundering, it's about denying people things. /pol/ and /b/ and a bunch of the degenerate boards I'm fine with them being denied, but some places /tg/ and /vr/ don't have very good alternatives. I'm unaware of anywhere that hosts TTRPG discussions about uncommon systems or worlds, and instead most alternatives are just D&D 5e discussion grounds. /vr/ would also have some good general threads and /g/ has a few good threads(like /twg/ tech workers general which lets you keep a decent pulse on what other anons think about the industry). Continuing hacks would just be a case of denying the service, and some people just want to ruin the days of others

Oh and the other issue is I think a lot of these places are on discord servers and while I do use discord for chatting with friends, I have no idea how to find discord servers that are communities around these things, unlike search engine indexable forums.
