While I'm at it, I'll list some classic memes and their origins, they often get attributed to 4chan by normies like our friend, but they had nothing to do with it, it just got reposted there.

"4chan was the ground zero for memes and every internet phenomenon in the early days."
My ass!
The only other meme besides Pedobear (and its varianst including seal of approval) I can attribute to pre-2010's 4chan is pools are closed and it's a copypasta that
accidentally turned into a meme on the wider internet after they raided habbo hotel.
Modern 4chan also started the backrooms meme accidentally with a copypasta and I know some of you guys don't like the backrooms, but that's the only modern 4chan meme I can think of besides pepe and wojak.
Actually 50% of classic western memes originated from SomethingAwful, they're also shitlords, but I have more fond memories of them and would be sad if they disappeared someday, nothingh of value would be lost if 4chan never resurfaces.
I haven't really touched /vr/, so I can't say, but it's hard to notice the differences in culture when the bigger boards cause most boards to homogenize. /mlp/ felt a lot like /pol/ (or /pol/-lite, it certainly wasn't as bad as /pol/) at times with the weird racism and antisemitism despite mlp being probably "too weird and cringe" for the average /pol/ goer.
The only boards where that didn't happen mostly had folks who were helplessly mentally ill like /x/ or /qa/ or were so restrictive and moderated that it just couldn't happen.
