Yeah! Grab yourself aseprite. It's really simple to use. It does cost money, but you can compile it from the source for free (but honestly, supporting the developer is always preferred, this guy goes above and beyond).

There's also gimp, but that's a really involved process of making animations from layers.

A friend of mine decided to make his own personal webpage recently. He's just getting started, and it's honestly unlikely that he'll finish it, but I've decided to make a web button for it just for fun/practice. Part of his whole schtick is that he's a Pyro main, so I want to do something with flames in front of a Madness Combat-esque setting.

With that said, does anyone know how to do the same sort of fire effect as this button? I played around with some of GIMP's rendering tools, hoping to at least get something with a similar feel, but no dice. I figure they must have used some other software to pull it off, but I'm not sure what it was.

You might get some mileage with Blender's particle system.

I'm sure someone will have made prerendered fire on something like opengameart too, if you want a faster shortcut.

I'm probably going to make one for venith.net soon though :D along with a 240x60 button for those who would want such a size over the regular buttons. If I make any other websites within the future, I'll also make buttons for those sites for obvious reasons, since I'd like to have several buttons under my name.
