I would definitely agree that the distinctions between two mutually exclusive categories is an inaccurate way to look at the world, particularly when it has to do with morals. As you seem to imply in your entry, the Aristotelian golden mean is the way to proceed through life!
Interesting, self-publishing is something I am interested in, although I haven't dig any deeper into it (not like I have something ready to publish). It is part of my self-sufficiency plan which also includes growing my own food.
While not a gamer myself, I also enjoy games in which free exploration is possible. I've spent countless hours doing side missions on Fallout: New Vegas. Maybe I should buy myself a Nintendo Switch, although I rarely have time to play games nowadays.
Now this is a game I would be interested to play. Interesting how you describe it as Yume Nikki-esque, given that you didn't like that game and seem to have enjoyed this one so far. I am also very fond of SM64DS and even bought it physically a couple of months back (yeah, my DS still works) after having payed it forever in my M3 DS Real. Good times.
I too still have a physical copy of SM64DS. I think one of the key reason that I enjoy B3313 way more than Yime Nikki is due to Mario's vast array of movement. I also think that the maps have way more substance in general.
