Initially inspired by @Eden's blog and their participation in the https://bringback.blog/ movement, this is an Agora movement to encourage y'all to WRITE STUFF!

Agora Road Travelogue

2. Commit to writing 2 blog posts in this month of September.
3. Indicate, in some way, that you are participating in the Travelogue on the blog post you are submitting.
4. Upon publishing your post, you must comment in this thread your 1) Article's title 2) Link to article 3) Date posted.

Q: What if I don't have a website to publish on?
A: Feel free to submit blog posts either here on Agora, (as @no_chill tends to). But its BIGLY encouraged to make one! It's not too hard to start, don't let perfect get in the way of good, let your crude initial aesthetic be, let your content shine. @Eden 's posts on the personal web thread can point you in the right direction

Use luke smith's sup script. It will save you much time.

The script is short enough(23 loc, less if you exclude comments) that you could include it inline in the blog if you wanted. Might actually be good because you have to go down 2 clicks(to the repo and to the file) to look at it. Worth also commenting why Quad9 DNS over Google DNS(though to anyone in the privacy space the reasons are obvious if left as an exercise to the reader). I would change a lot of your script's lines to have && instead of ; as that has a different meaning. If a command returns a none-0 status code(aka it failed/crashed/other issues), then the following command(s) after && won't run. For lines which overwrite or delete, this is something you should seriously consider. I've seen scripts run that don't do this correctly, and the script blindly continues rolling on and breaks a lot of shit, because people assumed no command could ever fail.

It'd be interesting to see electricity usage of this old laptop compared to a Raspberry Pi which Pi-hole is originally designed for. Curious if the electrical usage is trivial and irrelevant here. I'd expect the Pi to be cheaper to run in the long run, but not sure how much in the long run and what that tradeoff is. Anyway, good blog!

@RisingThumb all the points you made are spot on. i'll touch up the script and the article tomorrow. i was initally considering adding the script as part of the article where it is so small, like you said. I also figured out why the DHCP server was giving me errors, so I'll add an excerpt on that as well. i appreciate the feedback, man!

Interesting read. I've heard that Via Negativa is often used by othodox christians to describe god as opposed to catholics or protestants, who try to describe God by who he is. Why do you think that is?

Interesting read. I've heard that Via Negativa is often used by othodox christians to describe god as opposed to catholics or protestants, who try to describe God by who he is. Why do you think that is?

They both describe God. Via Negativa describes him by what he isn't. "God is not" is as much a description as "God is". A Catholic or Protestant would easily concede on smaller points like "God is not me" as much as an Orthodox Christian would. The difference probably comes down to the sects and how each sects carries the Christian tradition and interprets the Bible differently(evidenced by omission or inclusion of different books in the Bible by different churches). I imagine a lot of the differences in "God is" comes down to different people understanding the trinity very differently(and it just generally being a poorly understood topic, and even more poorly explained topic by theologians).

I gave it as an example it's the most easily understood example of the truism behind it, is that you can understand ideas better by inverting them and understanding what isn't that idea. Even if the idea is your own issues, or the idea is a programming problem, or a book that's got a complex theme or idea to express...

Did you go to anything social centred around gaming in the last 4 years? I know I got a Monster sticker from a University Gaming social. Monster loves to give promo shit out to anything game related. Possibly also sports and possibly gigs.
Anyway, I've always been of the opinion 1 or 2 stickers is best. If you're going for loads, I find it best to pick the same "style" of stickers(fonts, colours, sizing). Difference between this and this.

With only 1 or 2, you put all your focus on making those the central "decorative" focus(but then you'd better make sure those 1 or 2 are badass).
Really love the way you make a hover map where you hover over stickers to see the story behind them. Looks hella awesome

i went full on chaos mode. The other laptop I speak about in the post has only two big stickers, will post an update about that too.

Thanks! I'll post an update soon about how it was done, the code is fairly simple.
