Far is forgotten too much these days. Mother Mary is the obvious choice from the album but it is simply great.

If ones are interested i n that late 90s emo-adjacent scene, One must check out the Deep Elm catalog from the era it is littered with so much golden apples. these two are standouts;

Appleseed Cast is the defining band of the day, I think. Really, you can hear about 75% of what was to happen over the two decades in the genre on this record

Planes Mistaken For Stars were a slight misfit on the Deep Elm roster in the days, bordering on stoner rock and melodic hardcore at times (and becoming that more and more as time has passed). this record is good for driving too fast in a shitty hatchback without power windows.


The label put out compilations with the very silly name of Emo Diaries which were always packed with stuff from the pre-mtv post-hardcore/emo ish. Pre famous Jimmy Eat World and samiam and The Jazz June and a bunch of ish that never made it past a few eps and splits.

(EDIT apparently Deep Elm is still putting out records but it's like weird soundtrack shit. Like the stuff made with the only goal of getting placed into a comercial for car insurance. wild)
