Took a photography class, really enjoyed it for the first 6 months. Took a lot of photos, but eventually the class just killed my interest in it. I still like taking picture's of things I don't see often, I might pick it back up in the future idk.

Yes, those are my pics. All of them were shot on a Canon EOS Rebel SL3 with the kit lens. Most of them have been sitting on my hard drive as unprocessed raw files for a couple years because the SL3 uses a new raw format that's only supported by Adobe and Canon's own crappy editing software (at least it was last time I checked.) I got a little irritated because of this and set the camera aside for a while, but I recently picked it up again and rediscovered my love for photography. I think people put too much emphasis on gear and digital post-processing. Framing and having a good subject are both more important, and the only way you're going to get those is by getting out and taking more photos, not by obsessively tweaking settings in Lightroom.
I also started using my camera's screen instead of the viewfinder and ended up enjoying it much more. The auto-stabilization on my lens is fantastic and makes it easy to take good looking shots without bracing the camera up against my face. Using the touchscreen to select focus points is also great, and the same goes for being able to see what the exposure will look like before taking a picture. I like the idea of doing things in a more old-school way, but these new features make the process of taking photos so much more intuitive and relaxing. I now understand why so many people are upgrading to mirrorless cameras that don't have a viewfinder. I might get one in the distant future, but right now upgrading to either a faster lens for indoor shorts or a telephoto for outdoor ones seems like a better idea.

I was hoping for a photography thread! Photography has been a hobby of mine for a good while now. I mostly shoot outdoors/landscape/nature stuff, but I'm currently working my way into portraiture. I attached a lil sampler in no particular order if anyone's interested.

These are awesome, and this might sound a bit odd but the landscape/greenery shots remind me of pictures you'd see on 2000s era national, state, etc. park websites. I love the warm sorta fuzzy nostalgic feel the pictures have. What kind of camera/setup are you rocking?

I figured I might as well add on and share some of mine since I'm already writing on late. I mostly do digital but have gotten the chance to shoot and develop a few rolls of film, if anyone wants to see those I have a few scans of prints I might be able to find. Plus I'm always happy to share photos.

Thanks! I primarily shoot Ektar 100 and Gold film on a Bronica ETRsi, though I also shoot digital, 35mm and 4x5LF. I love hiking/camping so I get to take lots of photos in parks/preserves.
