Are we the universe if were made up of the same things as the universe?

i watched a movie a few days ago. it was a somewhat anime/animation movie kind of thing. It was called "children of the sea", its on Netflix and it was very confusing for me. I had to look up its meaning and it had something to do with seeing us as the universe. We are made up of the same product as stars and things in the galaxy and the universe. thinking of this. if all creatures and people and things in general are made up of the same content as the universe. are we technically the universe? if something is made up of that thing or properties of that thing, is it that thing? Well, at surface level, yes. We have many examples of this such as tables and pencils, they are made of wood, yet, we don't call it wood. we call it a pencil and/or a table, but that doesn't mean its not wood or is not made up of it. is it the same for us? are we the universe but just call ourselves humans?

what are you opinions on this? id really like to know what other peoples views are on this topic

tl;dr: watched a movie surrounding a theory that we are the universe. we are made of the same things as stars and the universe, so are we technically the universe?

People who get their metaphysics from movies are some of the most annoying people around.

Doesn't the name "Universe" already imply that?
Universus is latin for "the whole" so we are necessarily part of it. If you think about it in terms of mathematical sets, then the Universe includes all things inside of it. Pencils, planets, people.

Yes! Just "yes". Simply YESSSS. We are the universe. We are part of the universe, in a different form than other parts of the same thing in which we share our beingness. We are part of a network, and that network is also a part of a larger one. Multiply that with infinity. We are essential to the maintainance of our network with other beings, and our evolution and the changes made leave their imprint on the whole and contribute to it's overall change as well. The micro level influences the macro level, and vica versa. But there are no true extremes, as another layer beyond and below will always be possible to be found, which shares it's basic laws with all the other ones made from the same Source, with minor modulations that add up and become major by further distance. The snake bites into it's own tail, and therefore the cycle becomes complete, feeding itself with it's own growth everlastingly.

In my opinion, yes and no. Humans are entire systems which are made up of living and non-living things, much like the universe. Inside all of us are structures which are too small for us to perceive with even the the strongest microscopes as of right now, much like how the universe also contains these small structures.

At least for me, the biggest difference between us and the universe is size and function. The universe is an incomprehensibly colossal and functionally infinitely vast. And though its true functions are unclear, what we do know that one of its basic functions is to contain life. To contain these systems which to us seem unimaginably big, but to it, are just another small structure sewn within its cosmic fabric.

Though we aren't The universe, we are certainly part of it. Our bodies are made up of the elements made in the universe. We inhabit one of its many systems.

The way that I like seeing it is that, though we may never be The universe, the universe can never be Us.

Humans play a unique role on this tiny rock. All of everything we hold value and love to, is held here. All of our love, loneliness, happiness, sorrow, ambitions, obstacles, our highs, and our lows are all held here. And while our problems may seem infinitely small compared to the grand sandbox of the universe, we don't see them that way. Those things we hold onto mean a lot to us. The moments we forge that make us who we are happened here. We have a thing for placing importance to these cosmically small things, but it's what makes us who we are. The universe could never compare to us in that regard.

We are tiny people hitching a ride on a small rock in this sea of stars. Undoubtedly part of it, but vastly different from it.
