I quit my retail job at the end of last year for an Aussie clothing brand called Ghanda. I say this with no hesitation, Ghanda feels like the Mcdonalds of retail stores, you'd seriously not find a clothes store messier and harder to manage I think, and it was purely from the restrictions we had to operate the shop.
I'll try to keep my main annoyances brief think we had 30 boxes of stock sent to us every 3 days and we had no back or external storage space, so all the boxes had to just pile up around the store; and we weren't allowed to clean up any active mess in the shop until all the stock from the boxes were put out. Our rosters were a mess too, our reginal manager would often change our rosters either on the day or day before or during the shift, it got so bad that a lot of people wouldn't show up to work because no one notified them that their roster changed.

Towards the end of my employment, they had hired 15 more staff to work at out store, before the Christmas period it was only 6 of us, all in our early 20's; but all the people we noticed who were hired were 19 and under, one as young as 14. All of us original workers started to notice we were getting put on less and less shifts, and we eventually caught wind that workers from other stores were starting to get fired or not rostered on at all, and soon enough I and the rest of us saw by 2024 we weren't rostered on. I naturally put two and two together and realised I'm getting aged out of the store.. at the old wrinkly age of 21..
I decided it's better to quit rather than wait to be fired, and I put in my resignation for the 1st of Janruary. I actually walked out on the job during boxing day which is a whole ass story in itself, I could honestly go on and on but you get the idea...

I feel like my recent employment is probably not the worst out there, so I wanna pass the ball to you and ask if you've had any bad experiences working in retail?

Any who enjoy this picture I drew which my exwork friends thought was funny, and one other bonus was I found a couple pics of when the store got messy, but they're unfortunately extremely mild compared to the lead up before I left:

Dear Lord, this place looks clean and messy at the same time. Even thrift stores where I live is more organized despite the warehouse look.
