I recently finished this book and had mixed feelings about it. While I think the author is a decent writer, I don't think it quite carries the book. To me, there isn't anything particularly unique about the characters in the book. While that makes it easy to empathize with the characters, I also think it makes for a less exciting story given that the sequence of events is fairly mundane and predictable. The book did move me, but not any more than if I were to imagine myself going through the situations Michelle endures.
Anybody else read this and have a similar sentiment? I think a lot of people reading the book are pretty big fans of Michelle's music. I think I might be a bit more interested if that was my case as well. Again, the book isn't bad, I just didn't find it particularly valuable myself.
