Oh no puppy linux aint that bad. Prolly the closest thing to your situation in all honesty but that depends how you wanna go about it.

Otherwise, don't try arch or gentoo. They will give you vietnam (but gentoo good anyways).

Also off topic I've been thinking about trying Usenet. I heard the usenet scene is still going strong and is practically better than the traditional "vpn torrent" combo.

Oh, do let me know if you do. I've had a contact on ModNetwork whom I asked to check Usenet for me on quite an often ocassion. It seems like there's lot of stuff in Usenet.
But as ModNetwork went doen, I've lost that contact. So if you'll get access to Usenet, it would've been awesome if you'd check several things for me.

Also word on the street is that Empress, y'know the only person that was cracking denuvo, disappeared or worse got arrested.

The scene really needs to get it's shit together if there is going to be a scene in a few years.

Wow, judging by the dramatic style of writing, they've got a full Avengers-level threat down there on the base! I can't help but let out a friendly cackle every time I see the guys playing Illuminati Secret Agents, using code words, discussing the dangers of being exposed and protecting the righteousness of THE SCENE. Guess it does more good than bad(unless it grows into a full blown snobbery at some point), but there's just something subtly funny about how seriously some folks take there hobbies. I admire the attitude though, my lazy ass could never be an admin of any sort.

I mean, this hobby carries a hefty prison sentence if caught. The gatekeeping and snobbery was there for a reason. No matter how schizo-y and ramble-y it sounds (and it does sound like that a lot), letting in druggies with poor OPSEC could end up with all of them getting years in prison. I get how it looks to an onlooker though, a wacky fun time, everyone in there writing like they're drugged out of their mind on speed doesn't help either.

Yea, this. Also, quite surprised the post isn't about her. When I've read "scene drama", I've thought: must be EMPRESS. She's been the main drama generator for the past several years.

Also word on the street is that Empress, y'know the only person that was cracking denuvo, disappeared or worse got arrested.
Pretty sure she'll be back in a month or two. I mean, cry wolf... kind of. Anyway, EMPRESS discredited hearself quite hard in my eyes. So, like... it is hard to believe that something really happened.

No guarantees!
Obviously. It's no biggie : )

I swear to god I could never figure out/get *-arr shit to work.
Well, I've tried to mess with it today. It installed alright on Win10, but then got stuck on "awaiting call from 0.0.0.0" or something like that. I've tried to search for some documentation, and the best I've found was this thing:

It said that "by default, the Bazarr service will run under Local System account that won't be able to access network shares. You need to change the account used for Bazarr service", so I've tried to did just that, and Win10 kind of didn't want to work for whatever reason, kept throwing error 1069 at me ("service didn't launch because of a login error" or something along those lines). After some time I've managed to assign one of the NT SERVICE accounts to it, and it launched under that, only to stuck at "awaiting call from 0.0.0.0" again, so, basically, nothing changed.

The second point in the article I've linked says "Microsoft Windows doesn't support using mapped network drives for process running as a service. You must either switch to UNC path for your Sonarr/Radarr root folders or use Bazarr path mapping to circumvent that.", but how do I do that? Like, I've tried to check some config files and didn't find anything, and I do not even get to that fancy UI I've seen on screenshots. So I'm not quite sure here.

@handoferis I suppose, you are using Linux and cannot really help with that, right?

Anyway, lots of sources seem to say that Bazarr gotta work in conjuction with one of the other -arrs, so maybe I gotta install one of those first. The documentation on the whole thing seems rather scarce though. The fact that I'm not that versed in Win10 likely doesn't help. And, somehow, ultimately I feel like it will be all for naught... Just a hunch. Still, I guess I'll give it all another try somewhere during next month.

fakeness: wtf happened in 2010s that people now support rich people/monopolies? (not all irl, but on interent, most of normies), like they ever care, provide something... they do, but we surely could do better (ok, id stop here and wait away my black parade 20-sec phase...)

My personal thoughts are that there's a shift in the culture, people nowadays rarely do stuff if they don't feel like there is a tangible change or if money isn't involved. Empress, one of the rare remaining Denuvo hackers charges 500$ per crack, which back in the day would have gotten you laughed out of the scene. Now not only are they not laughed out of the scene people have crowdfunded their cracks multiple times. That's why I think it's all about the money or some political brownie points, the current sentiment with programming and IT all together isn't "make your dream game/program/etc" but "make shit tones of money" or to larp being some hacker man breaking in government shit making the world just in their programming socks and of course people like that aren't going to bother trying to crack games for free and to get arrested. It also explains why only P2P players still crack stuff since if they don't much of the times games aren't even sold to RU or CN so they have to crack it.

Most new games do suck tho, there's no denying that.
500$ per crack? Why not just pay for the game at that point, Am I misunderstanding something?

Clearly you are.
There are so many different reasons, but I'll just provide one... well, alright, two.
Example one: 500 people pay to a cracker 1 buck each. Instead of paying 20 bucks or however much the games cost nowadays, they spent just 1 dollar and made the game accessible to everyone else along the way.
Example two: repacker pays 500 bucks to a cracker because he wants to be first on the scene. Maybe he feels like this release will be big and so he wants get maximum out of this one to make a name for himself and, I don't know, get the money back from the subsequent releases when people will visit his website or something.
Just from the top of my head. Myriads of reasons out there. Some X party pays 500 bucks because Y reasons, choose your own. It's named "scene" for a reason, it's not just one end user paying 500 bucks to play the game.

I've heard denuvo DRM is extremely hard and reason why there are many cracks or something.

>many cracks

Actually, are you just drunk today or something?

I think the main reason companies are going after piracy isn't to stop people from getting mainstream popular media, but to stop people having access to "problematic" no-no media, SPECIALLY books. Information is very valuable, and if the wrong information gets spread it could mean the collapse of the system.

There's no need for a political conspiracy. The answer is very simple. Companies care if you pirate some game from their backlog that they have already given away for free in the past, because they know that they are less effective legally if you then pirate their big new flagship game.

The law in the USA is insidious and stupid.

It's (was) like a crowdfunding for a crack, where people would come together and give how much they had for the Russian nutjob to crack the game so that everyone can play it.

It's far from how things used to be and you would be laughed out of the scene a few years back but people were desperate.
