Recently I've been playing this game since the Shin Megami Tensei series caught my interest, by far Soul Hackers has been one of my personal favourites since I bought all the games on 3DS and after seeing the aesthetic of the game and the fact that the game was originally released for the Sega Saturn on 1997 I thought on sharing some screenshots and music from the game since I believe it would be good Vaporwave material, try it if you can, the original Sega Saturn and PlayStation are Japan exclusive but the game got an english remake for 3DS

The ps1 era shin megami tenseis are really aesthetics, specially megami ibunroku persona/persona 1 (my favorite from that era, because i haven't played persona 2 yet), that game is so amazing and aesthetic.

Persona 2 is pretty good, I've only played part 1 tho. There's 2 persona 2s and it's important to play them in order though I've already forgotten the order. All the music from these games is incredible and consistently great. Persona 5 had great music but I sort of missed the pop ish early 2000s sounds of persona 3-4.

Digital devil saga is criminally underrated as well, probably better than persona 2 and smt 3

The PS1 (and perhaps early PS2) era was the peak of the SMT series. It was clearly a collaborative effort because all the staff who went on to work on their own projects never made anything that came close to what they did on SMT. Soul Hackers especially is what most vaporwave only wishes it could be. It was the perfect mix of the cyberpunk/occult craze of the 80s/90s.

Persona 2 was great and the rumor system/meme magic was a really unique feature. Unfortunately it was the last game Satomi Tadashi wrote (although the circumstances of his resignation are kind of funny).

I hope Cozy Okada can escape whatever Yakuza black company dungeon he's trapped in.
