Does AI have a future or is it just gonna be NFTS round 2?

The AI hype is huge online, and to a certain point irl (everyone I know uses ChatGPT, including me) but I'm beginning to get NFT vibes from AI. From what I've seen, a lot of AI advancements and discourse just sounds like corporations trying to justify it's existence. however, I'm not well versed in AI and I don't want to sound like it either. so, is AI real or is it another glorified rug pull?

Thread locked. If you had looked through the catalog or used the forum search function before posting you would have found several different threads related to AI. There is no point in creating an entirely new thread just to raise a vague question that's already tangentially related to multiple threads on the catalog, many of which have been responded to less than a week ago.

I'll add this as a public service announcement for new users: please lurk more and check the catalog before posting. Don't assume that there isn't a thread for a given topic just because you don't see one in the "Latest Posts" window on the front page. Agora Road also does not have any rules against "necroing" old threads, and in fact, many users actually appreciate seeing older threads revived with new discussion.
