Also has anyone noticed that it's incredibly easy to find risque videos on YouTube? For all the sanitary bullshit they've done, it used to be significantly harder to find any titties on YouTube when I was eleven, now you can find sexy videos in abundance. It's ironic.
I actually came across a whole slew of pretty much straight up porn vids the other day on youtube. There was a smash tournament that I wanted to watch some of and so I searched for "Let's Make Big Moves" (the name of the tournament) and filtered by playlist and all I was met with was multiple playlists each with 100s of videos of pretty much just straight porn. Some of them looked like they were ripped straight off pornhub or something too. It's scary to think of just how easy that was to come across. tbh I'm not even sure what about my search specifically led to me getting those results

Also since there's now way more videos from the tournament than when I first searched for it I doubt you'd find the porn playlists anymore but still, it's scary to me that they were that easy to find

Most modern Minecraft servers are pretty egregious with vapid monetization schemes that capitalize off of children. You can go to any server listing website, and all the top billings advertise economy systems, kits, and lootboxes, all purchasable with real money, of course.
It's been a problem since around the time the game was officially released, and it's only gotten worse over time as server owners get more creative in how to scam little kids. I figured once Microsoft got ahold of the game, they would crack down on it, if only to work in their own microtransaction systems. Instead, they've only implemented an out-of-touch chat reporting system that can permanently ban you from any online-instance of the game for an offense as minor as swearing. AFAIK, Mojang has banned a few of these Pay-to-Win servers, but not enough to counterbalance the hundreds, maybe thousands, that continue to operate with no problem.
But hey, at least the children are safe from curse-words...:PikaFacepalm:

It's been almost 10 years since Notch sold the game to Microsoft. I really wish he didn't do it... That was the most awful decision possible looking back.

Roblox pisses me the fuck off. It's very clearly a safe haven for pedos under the veil of "safe space for your kids! look! we have filters!" crap. It used to be a decent spot when it was first around, and with it in the mainstream because it appeals to kids with virtually zero attention span, kids are constantly on it and pedos are there too. Roblox really needs to get their shit fixed or I'm going to start thinking that the owner is a pedo trying to make something for other pedos. Had to explain this to a family member about why Roblox isn't good to get into in terms of learning game dev, among other things expressed in that pmg video. It blows my mind that the obvious problems are being easily overlooked by the masses.

Not to mention the rest of them. Hell, kids are becoming braindead idiots by being given an ipad and tiktok/youtube. I'm thankful I had a normal childhood with the internet. I didn't use it much and really only went outside and played with friends. Now I see 6-9 year olds on tiktok and it's terrifying to see. These kids are being brainwashed with ads and 15 second videos that aren't as regulated as youtube and as such are being exploited for revenue and clicks. It's fucking sickening.
I unironically have blacklisted Roblox after they sued Ruben Sim over him exposing their nonsense, essentially. One of which was Roblox turning a blind eye to issues such as groomers sexually abusing children. And frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if builderman, the founder of Roblox, himself has numerous skeletons in his closet when it comes to pedophilia. (Or, most of the moderators). He claims to build a site safe for children, but the numerous moderation failures and off-site grooming is very suspicious of him and his company, and I have no reason to believe that it has finished. (Additional note: Canadian authorities have warned parents that Roblox's chat feature may not even be safe, despite the companies claims that they are filtering inappropriate messages out.)

And I really am terrified by the potential mass mental damage to the new generation will be by the fast attention span nonsense. I think we are going to be regressing as a species into consoomerism and instant gratification (if we have not already).

Man I see this shit so much with my niece and nephew. "Why don't they pay attention and listen to me?" people say as their child is in a trance staring at a phone.

It appeals to kids with zero attention span because it's in the mainstream not the other way around. Roblox was never the "mindlessly tap buttons on an ipad and buy shit" simulator it is now until it started picking up attention, blame that goddamned faggot DanTDM.

I think this is mostly a problem for US kids. Germany still has kika and der sendung mit der maus kid sites that are pretty good. My kids barely speak German but they love those sites.

I miss it back when Roblox was basically clones of Gmod games and the target audience was more teens/young adults than 5 year olds.

Yes and no.

I fondly remember getting blown up in Doomspire Battlesphere around 2007 and really remember back when Roblox had 4 games you could try out.
That's how much time I invested as a kid in Roblox and now it's all gone.

Someone shared these screenshots (from Tumblr ew ik) on a Telegram channel I follow and I thought they were spot on. Its sad how few niche spaces there are for different age groups on the internet nowadays. I remember going from sites like Club penguin and Nickelodeon to Miniclip and Poptropica to Adventure Quest Worlds as I grew up. I imagine Id probably have ended up on some groomer Roblox discord server if the current internet replaced the one from 10 years ago. Kids used to have entire MMORPGS in their browsers and now all kids have is Fortnite.

Man this is a topic that definitely needs to be explored. Thanks for sharing this!

For now, I will say that economically, brands forfeited the right children in order to exploit what little fan base they had for immediate gratification. If they had remained institutions rather than trying to speed up the consumer process, then they would have been trusted brands that people would have patronized over a lifetime.

Ethically, I think this stems from laziness. The same marketers who are trying to cash in on their audience prematurely are the same people who refuse to invest R&d into their consumer base. The people who ran those sites for kids understood kids, and they understood how to properly groom an audience without completely betraying them. Those audiences grew up to be the types of people who would later on bring their entire families to that establishment. Now, corporations don't know how to relate to people because they don't have those social skills, because they stopped investing in them all together.

Culturally, we have a real problem with infantilized adults who are polluting kids spaces. When I started having kids, I am my wife both knew that we were not going to be able to let our kids hang out on some of these sites because they were infested with corrupted teenagers, and 20 somethings you never actually grew up, let alone actual child predators. It's really difficult for kids on the internet because everyone around them must be diligent to ensure their safety. But our society doesn't really value children anymore.

I'm going to talk with my wife, and some other friends that I have that grew up during this era and see what I can pull together on the topic.

Okrem toho robím v IT a rovnakí blázni stále vymýšľajú nové a nové technológie aby stále mladí kokoti čo sa to naučia mali prácu a tí čo vedia niečo staršie môžu ísť do plynu. Ja neviem asi som ja jebnutý, ale ja mám rád overené veci, veci ktoré preveril čas, nechcem novoty, nechcem každý rok revolučné pičoviny, revolučné technológie. Ja chcem vystúpiť z tohoto vlaku. Chcem aby to prestalo, skončilo.

On the topic of very inappropriate toys, I don't think it's something new (althought it may have gotten worse). Even in the early 2000s I remember seeing commercials for baby dolls that could "piss" and was like wtf.

The real question is why those toys exists in the first place. My bet is that people with weird children fetishes end up in a "position of power" - kinda like what happened with the catholic church.

Remember Toybox (music band), Aqua and E-rotica making infantile yet sexualised videos/songs/texts?

Reminds me of what you wrote above, MS

The Tumblr post is spot on, although you can tell the OP had religious parents. Evangelicals have next to no sway on the progressive tech companies that monitor the internet, though they do attempt to censor the same way out in meatspace.
