Pantera was the shit to me growing up because they were from the south and sounded like it. No one gave a fuck about where I grew up so it was nice to hear metal that wasn't from California, the East Coast, or Europe for once. Absolutely greasy band...riffs for days.

I happen to be an expert on this subject. 90s alt metal and nu-metal are my fucking shit! I see no one has posted Primus yet, so I'll do the honors


A somewhat forgotten relic of this era of metal was Incubus' second album. Incubus became famous after transitioning to standard radio rock, which I find to be kinda sad, I really wish they had stuck with this sound, at least for another album or two.


And finally Alice In Chains They're my favorite of the big four of grunge, primarily because they were a metal band.
