My reply to things like this used to always be Hot Freaks, but since Puppy Princess blew up a while back they've been going strong in the upper hundred thousands and millions of monthly listeners. (I still highly recommend them if you're into Indie Pop Rock at all.)

Seeing as they don 't fit the requirements anymore, my go to is The Dodos. They've been making music since the mid 2000s and have never really had any huge hits, at least not enough to get them up to consistently. I highly recommend their earlier stuff, and their first album is still my favorite. If you're into indie and enjoy drums at all, you'll more than likely enjoy The Dodos, since most of their songs are pretty heavy on larger drums. (I don't know what kind, I'm not a musician of any kind.)

There's also another personal favorite, this small rock number called Samsa, which I can't find any information on. I imagine that's mostly a result of sharing a name with a Lofi Rapper who blew up around 2017-18. Either way, all of his stuff is on Spotify and iTunes. On top of the Lofi-Rapper, Samsa also shares a name with what seems to be some sort of South American or Mexican rap group and a couple other vaguely South American or South Asian musicians. Mostly I just find his music criminally underrated and I love the shit out of it, even if there's only four songs. (1 three song EP and a single on some radio compilation album.)

I've been listening to this album by U.S. Saucer lately. Its a weird country/experimental album and I didn't like it at first but its really grown on me. Give it a try next time you're feelin like a cowboy with no horse.

This guy Memory Loss Inc has been making really cool videos for a while, though recently he's unlisted most of them. He mainly makes videos showing his writing process, and his music is pretty good imo. Also very into vaporwave.

There's also this EP from this guy Geno7 that I saw in a shill thread on /mu/. I like it, kinda reminds me of Lemon Demon.

I'd say simoyuki, they mostly make remixes of songs, but I enjoy them a lot. I don't know how underground they are really since some of their videos have quite a few views. but I'd say their more serious works are underrated. they have other music reposted on yt that isn't on their main account, I would link them here but I'm lazy lol. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5HO8Nwfou3cXfrhZwKu2ew/videos

Shannon Hoon of blind melon. Really only known for no rain and thought of as a 1 hit wonder, this could not be farther from the truth though.
Shannon Hoon had one of the greatest voices I've ever heard, he was scouted by none other than axel rose where he did some duets with him live.
Shannon burned through drugs though fast and slaughtered his voice, he died in 95 of an OD after only releasing 2 albums, soup and blind melon. Post Mortem they released an album called Nico that had some unfinished ideas on it.

I can't remember if it was 2008 or earlier but Shannon's mom posted on a forum a recording of some raw acoustic tunes Shannon had slapped together before blind melon that was early versions of a lot of popular songs.
