I really like Remedios Varo's paintings, especially the triptych pictured above. It's such a great visual depiction of spiritual repression and liberation. I got to see it in person when there was an exhibit of her work at the art museum in town, and spent like four hours (over the course of two visits) just looking at it, as well as the other paintings on display. I even bought a copy of the catalog. Something about the surreal imagery and esoteric symbolism spoke to me on a deep level.
The pictures available online don't really do the paintings justice. I think this applies to pretty much anything painted, since the way paint on canvas reflects light is always going to look better than pixels on an LCD screen, but in Varo's case there's also just a lack of hi-res imagery in general. I took some photos of my own (attached), but most of them are details rather than full pictures.

My favorite painter is probably Ivan Kramskoi, since he painted my favorite painting:
Christ in the Desert (1872)

>he's literally me

I also really enjoy these other works of his:
Mina Moiseyev (1882)

The Mermaids (1871)

I'm generally a fan of Realism, and especially Russian-Empire Realism.

Oh my god, his use of lightning looks uncannily realistic.

I really like how effficiently he utilized chiaroscuro in the second image. Been thinking of getting oil pastels and seeing if I can replicate the technique.

Speaking of which...
