It's time to post your favorite RnB/Funk tracks that may or may not be sampled on your amateur Vaporwave Bandcamp album.

Post whatever you'd like, and surprise me with your funky taste! I will, however, be posting classics that get turned into things like Futurefunk and whatnot. Have a taste!

Masayoshi Takanaka is a sampler's dream as far as funk goes, and really quite underrated. His "All of Me" album and "Insatiable High" albums are particularly his best work.

I am particularly interested however, in American artists that have this type of funk sound. Most American funk is rather chill. Take for example, Gill Scott Heron, who contributed both to rap and funk back in his day. Heavy funk!

Not to your funky taste? Perhaps a bit bluesier? Perfect for chilling.

Okay. Say you're not into these classics, and would like something more contemporary? Look no further than Thundercat, who has inspired many to turn his music into SoundCloud Vaporwave.

This is just to kick off this thread. More to come. Now, give me your funk!

@Bioluminescence really knows their funk! The French have some absolute gems. I've never seen Superfly myself, but personally, Pusherman (

)
is my favorite on that album. I grieve over the loss over this kind of music.

No loss, though! Plenty of gems that certainly inspire once again. Take for example, George Benson. Slow it down, and you practically have contemporary sampling.

You can't forget the absolute KING of soulful funk, however! Barry White's music has been everywhere and will continue to show up. Have a listen.

Maybe this isn't what you signed up for when you popped into this thread? Maybe we should go back.. to a more familar sound.

This song, like Masyoshi and Mr. White, has been sampled a million miles to Mars. And for good reason. More to come!

I really wanted to plug Junko Ohashi's compilation album, Magical, and the only link I have to the full thing is on this website. It's got a nice variety of funky sounds.

I really love everything Mokoko Kikuchi does but this is probably my favorite album by her

Taeko Ohnuki's album Sunshower is gorgeous and chill

This is a modern japanese group called King Cream Soda that does mostly music for Yokai Watch, but their sound is funky, poppy and fast

Here's some more funk. I can't find a full album version of Lonnie Liston Smith's Cosmic Funk but I really recommend it. I also recommend looking into the label Habibi Funk, they're dedicated to re-releasing harder to find Arabic funk and they have a youtube channel. I'm putting these under a spoiler so I don't force someone's computer to load too much at once.
Also here's a radio that plays only Italo disco

I don't know if Insatiable High is still available on YouTube as a full album but it really is Masayoshi Takanaka's best work hands-down (Was also sampled in several Flamingosis songs iirc). There's obvious picks like Tatsuro Yamashita, but there's also other groups. A lot of this stuff might be treading a line between jazzy and funky but there's no real need to differentiate, since each album has a lot to offer. I might only be able to post one song for some albums, but you'll be able to find playlists on youtube for those ones

Noriki - Dream Cruise

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5F-h-AQbq6M

This is a really smooth album and is very noncommittal, easy listening, but I think it still manages to pull you in to a really exciting place if you take the time and focus on it. Good music to cook and drink to.

Seaside Lovers - Memories In Beach House

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbNfnU4GxiU

I don't think this is really an album you can afford to tear yourself away from, and it's very exciting to just tune everything out and just let it take you away.

Toshiki Kadomatsu - Sea Is A Lady

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A59T-qgHqyc

With each song named after a different 'lady', it's a real trip to try an imagine the kind of person Kadomatsu is trying to create using his music.

Yuji Toriyama - Yuji Toriyama

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jSiQ0-vgdA

I was introduced to Yuji Toriyama after accidentally buying a compilation album of his on a whim in a seattle record store. It was super fun, so I decided to just binge any of his available discography and now we're here. The stuff this guy can do with a guitar isn't something I've really ever experienced before.

Prism - Prism

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81Sub64YbFo

I was introduced to this album by word of mouth in another record store by a staff member after discussing another artist. It didn't disappoint. It's a funky fusion jazz album that I don't listen to enough.

Casiopea - Casiopea
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_-swTU8eAY
This was the album I was talking about with my friend that led to the aforementioned Prism recommendation! It's a classic, and if there's one album to listen to here, it's this one. I linked this song here because it has really fun drumming situation toward the end. There's a playlist for this on YouTube but the full album has been uploaded as one track on soundcloud

I'll probably add more albums later in the thread once I can remember them.

Sorry I don't got much info on these artists (except for zapp but I'd rather you guys look into it yourselves instead of me just giving a bland summary here), a whole lot of my music taste is what you could sum up as "obscure swap meet find" type of music that takes way too long to research the origins of

Thank you for the complement! I try to give a listen to the best of all genres (except country god i cannot stand it anymore, hearing Johnny Cash on loop at an old job made me despise the entire genre, except for Willie Nelson!). Thank you for these suggestions too! I'm liking them all!

映画が始まる前に映画館で演奏されていた曲のリミックスがたくさんあります。それらのいくつかは驚くほど良いです。これはクールな電子楽器を組み込んでいて、それに付随する楽しいミュージックビデオを持っています

i had alot of fun chopping up that sample which was originally intended to be a footwork tune but things got out of hand and instead i made this really goofy house track out of it lol, i don't usually produce house so i'll proly have another go with the chops a little later
