In recent years I tend to prefer games that don't have a clearly defined end. Such as Dwarf Fortress and Minecraft.

However, there are still some games with endings that I've completed so far.

Touhou
- Touhou 10 ~ Mountain of faith
- Taisei Project

Visual Novels
- Saya no Uta
- Milk inside a bag of milk inside a bag of milk
- Milk outside a bag of milk outside a bag of milk

Misc
- Dysthanasia
- Amnesia: The dark descent
- Outlast

Finished this year (so far)
  • Stray (review)
  • Oxenfree II (review)
  • Tails: the Backbone Preludes (review)
  • Not sure if it counts, but I finished the "Hot Wheels" DLC of Forza Horizon 5
Unfinished (yet) or not finishing
  • Tunic - got absurdly hard at some point, dropped it (review)
  • Hot Wheels Unleashed - was fun, but got bored of it
  • Lapin - started it, but dropped, maybe I'll finish it at some time. Too much dialogue and speed running it you lose the story.
  • Need For Speed Underground (the OG one). Installed it and made it work as a lul on the SteamDeck, but eventually stuff gets too fast and too small for the SD screen and it makes it hard to play. Fun trip down memory lane tho.

Just recently beaten Pseudeoregalia AKA the funny goat-butt-girl game with an Art-Deco and fifth generation console aesthetic. Planning to write a review about it here later in the day because I have some thoughts regarding the game itself.

  • Jedi: Survivor
  • Cyberpunk 2077
  • Quake (I've been playing for years, but only just finished the singleplayer)
I don't play many linear games, so I seldom finish them (eg. ETS2, TSW2 are the kinds of games I usually play)

Off the top of my head I recall beating:
Minit.
1693401094532.png

TMNT: Shredder's Revenge
1693401230868.png

Streets of Rage 1, 2, 3 & 4.
1693401386938.png

Spanky's Quest (SNES)
1693401287236.png

And I've dumped a ton of time into, but not quite finished, Elden Ring, LoZ: Tears of the Kingdom, and Loop Hero.

In the last few days before bed I've been playing Crusader of Centy (Genesis), I'll probably have that beaten before the end of the week.

i will add couple of words for each game i've completed)

  • Entropy Zero 2 (HL2 mod)
    • very interesting story from the perspective of a combine elite soldier. would definitely recommend for anyone who loves HL2 universe!
  • Metro series
    • haven't played exodus yet, probably won't for now. but first two chapters are awesome. characters are very charismatic and i found game design rather appealing!
  • Milk series (Milk inside/outside a bag of milk...)
    • lovely artstyle, mysterious music, trippy and scary atmosphere and of course dialogues that don't make a lot of sense. i love that we can dive deeper into logic of this unique world in second chapter. yet, game doesn't answer any questions given in the first game. instead, it gives more food for thought.
  • SIGNALIS
    • this is a nice horror-puzzle game that was recommended to me. puzzles are hard, concidering you have to calculate your moves in advance. lore was great, although, i didn't get some of details. but, i guess, some mysteries are better being unsolved. i'd rather keep it that way.
  • Metal Gear Rising Revengeance
    • i replayed this game just because i completely forgot the lore and what was happening. game was awesome, just as i thought!
  • Hello Charlotte series
    • very nice and trippy RPG maker game. characters are unique, story left me absolutely broken and i always enjoy puzzles in video games. definitely recommend it!
  • Death Stranding
    • Hideo Kojima is a genius... but with all honesty though, game is very good. i will never forget the characters, game mechanics are awesome, graphics are stunning (quite literally if you have an old pc), and lore was so good that i had to wipe my tears all evening! not everyone will enjoy this type of game though, because it takes fairly long time to finish (30+ hours without speedrunning) so im not sure if i can recommend it or not...

and that basically it. i havent talked about games that i haven't finished because i dont have any strong opinions on them.
anyways thanks 4 reading

Entropy Zero 2 (HL2 mod)
Really loved this one and the original Entropy Zero, it's probably the closest thing we're ever going to get to another HL2 episode. I was surprised at how well they managed to fit an edgy Duke Nukem-style voiced protag into the setting while also staying faithful to the source material.
Snowdrop Escape is another seriously impressive HL2 mod I played for the first time this year, I recommend you give it a shot if you haven't already

Cyberpunk 2077 and Disco Elysium.
That's it for now, I don't play much anymore besides the occasional TF2 match. Have been planning to replay HL2 and maybe try out some mods though.

(I actually completed more games than I originally thought)
1. Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne Remaster
Took me about 9 months to finally complete it but I can say that I did lol

2. Producer 2021
A real oddity, but had really good music

3. Kirby and The Forgotten Land
Was okay I guess...

4. Paratopic
Was also fine, definitely recommended if you're into PS1 aesthetic games

5. WarioWare Gold
Wanted to play a WarioWare game for a while, so it was awesome to finally get to play a pretty decent entry!

6. I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream
I've developed such a complex love-hate relationship with that game, but easily an impactful one for sure

7. We Love Katamari Remaster
Such a cute little gem <3

8. Steam-Hearts (PC-98 version)
Was almost too easy, yet was still surprisingly fun! There are definitely better vertical shooters though

9. Space Funeral
Blew my mind, easily my favorite game I've played so far this year. I really need to play more RPG Maker games

It was avesome, those russian games know how to make a dark story. The game doesn't feel like it has enough content for 10+ hours thought. The upgrade system was better in the earlier versions. The story also changed from earlier versions to later and the earlier ones were far better about what they portrayed while we saw more in later versions.

Vividlope.

It is a nice action-puzzle platformer with Dreamcast vibes. I had a lot of fun with it, I can recommend it.
You have to paint the tiles, and not dying in the process.

Played and beat (idk if "beat" is the right word for a visual novel but whatever) VA-11 Hall-A this year, enjoyed it a lot. I also went through the original Ace Attorney trilogy, and they almost immediately became some of my favourite games I've ever played, so I guess I'll have to look into some of the other games in the series (at least, the ones that aren't in 3D. All the 3D games look so bad graphically that I'm not interested in playing them)
Besides that, I beat both the Hotline Miami games, a bunch of the Tony Hawk games, Cruelty Squad, and Devil May Cry 3 and 5.

i struggle a lot picking games to actually finish BUT here is a small list...
  • va11hall-a
i kept putting off finishing it (on steam), but i did finally reach the end this year after restarting it from the beginning (on switch) i actually started playing this in like 2019 but kept restarting to prolong the "making drinks" gameplay
  • hi-fi rush
bought this one because i love rhythm games and because robbie daymond voiced the mc definitely an enjoyable title, main story felt a bit short but there's plenty of end game content if i decide to go back later
  • persona 5 royal
my first playthrough of royal but my third playthrough of p5, it's been a little over a year since i played the original so i got whiplash from some of the changes but i changed my pre-release opinion of kasumi while playing i no longer despise her for existing
  • needy streamer overlord
picked it up cause it gave ddlc energy and played about half the endings of the game. felt unreasonably short compared to ddlc but maybe it's unfair to compare them??
i have a long list of games i need to beat still that i've been playing for years, i get distracted too easy by other games to finish them. pour one out for cult of the lamb, crisis core, spiritfarer, mother 3, yakuza and all the other games sitting on my hard drive

Finished this one a few days ago. Criminally short but for the price it's a decent one off experience and portrays what it wants to well. Not sure about the DDLC comparison because I didn't really see it as a horror game, not in the traditional sense anyways. Have to give the game props for featuring one of the more realistic mental breakdowns of an internet celeb I've ever seen in a game, down to the drug induced paranoia and becoming nearly illegible or the savior ending. Very similar to events that I've seen actually happen online.
