Gen-X Soft Club was an extremely popular aesthetic from the turn of the millennium. A contradiction to the garishness of Y2K and McBling, this look was more natural, with normal looking people in more everyday styles. It was seen everyone, in both print and TV ads, music videos, and the fashion world. It was, as its name suggests, soft- it envokes a very dreamlike tone, with its blown out lighting and desaturated colors.

Ladies and gentlemen, we're back! :pepeDS:

But I do like this one. I don't really remember it that well, but it's definitely dream-like. Honestly don't have much to add here other than to say that posts like this are the real highlights of Agora Road, and it's good to have them back.

Love this, never knew it had a name! Great aesthetic for December/wintertime, immediately makes me think of a few album covers I have:

Glad I'm not the only person who immediately thought of Hooverphonic when seeing this thread. This album is one of the most blurry, overexposed, blue/orange contrast things I've listened to. I'm deeply indebted to Yoko Kanno for shamelessly ripping it off for the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex OST, otherwise I never would have heard of it.

This one's one of my favorites to the point I'll listen to any album with that cover style. The colors, the movement; it's the aesthetic that defines the transition between milleniums pre-9/11, more than any other else. I live and die for Gen-X Soft Club.

Nice to see you back by the way! I love these posts.
