Hardvapor Discussion

Another subgenre of vaporwave would be Hardvapor, and I was wondering what people here think of it. To me, I think it is quite a good subgenre because of how it takes vaporwave and the slow, chill relaxing aspect of it and completely flips it upside down. Thoughts?

I don't really like Hardvapor because the reason I like Vaporwave is the slow & chill aspect of it . It is not my cup of tea.

i honestly haven't gotten to far in the genre, but i like hardvapor cause it reminds me of metal music in a way, like electronic metal music, if that makes sense. it also is a nice counterpoint to the more "traditional" vaporwave sound, but yeah, i must say its an acquired taste, so i can see how its can be quite a bitter brew.

I'm personally not a big fan of Hardvapor anymore but i still love Ghost Tech, because it is nostalgic in another way imo, feels like 90's sci fi movies, also it's cyberpunkish as hell. I personally love that aesthetic xD

I think there's two things: the idea of hardvapor and the music. I don't like the idea behind it for the same reason I don't like the darkest future's floral shoppe 2: its aim is to shock and be edgy, not to advance or enrich the development of Vaporwave.
That being said: using 90's rave culture as a source of vaporwave and nostalgia is very appealing to me. I've grown up on that stuff and it has even stronger nostalgia triggers than most 80's stuff has for me. Last year I've made an EP sampling only eurodance records, judge for yourself if it can be considered hardvapor though.
My favorite hardvapor album is this one. it almost feels like a documentary about the early rave scene. we missed out on something truly special back then, folks. lucky for us we can still have the second-hand experience we get from listening to this album:
