I think I understand the purpose of this.

Agora doesn't only have flame wars. It has threads in which someone posts something so spergalicious that it awakens the attention of all trolls on the board. The thread then derails because OP is too autistic to know when to stop replying to the people piling on them.

There's two instances that I've seen - "Male Insecurity" and "Stop Killing Games Movement". They're funny at first, but the game of "poke the sped" gets old at page 38. The threads just pollute the "Latest Posts" sections and spams whoever dared commented on the thread with notifications.

It's frustrating when a few people derail a conversation and it just keeps going and going. Plus, the constant notifications can be super annoying if you're trying to keep up with other discussions. But, what can you expect, really? This is the internet. Trolls are just something that will happen whether you like it or not. I've been on the internet for my entire life, and after a while I guess you just get used to it LOL.

I thought the whole purpose of hell is to offer as few rewards for posting as possible.

You are trying to control the dumpster fires on the main forum. If you want to do that you need a place where people can not be fucking modded to death. There needs to somewhere for the people to freely converse without the feelings department showing up to censor them. It's cool you think people only want to chat about vaporwave and nostalgia......but that's just not a strategy for success. Either you let us do what we want in hell or let us do what we want on the main forums....otherwise people are going to splinter off to places like IRC and shit. You can't encourage people to post quality content by removing things you deem unworthy. That just leads to an empty forum. Some of us just like bonding together talking shit about cross dressers in Willy Wonka Asexual hats. That makes for more relationship development and keeps the other stuff going around here. Some people think we need standards.....that's how the forum dies.
