Hey there, does anyone know what song this is? A friend has been looking for it for a while now and they have yet to find it.

They found it off someone's website. Unfortunately the owner of that website passed away, but they had this little track running in the backround. I'm asking here since I figure this might be the type of thing people here would listen to. I dunno, I'm new here. But if anyone can name this song it would be greatly appreciated.

tf?

anyways, Shazam would either say that it couldn't find anything or it would give me really obscure but wildly different results. Did your friend get this vocaroo link from the website or did they record the website playing the music and turn that into a vocaroo? If it's the former I wouldn't be surprised if it's something that the website owner made themselves and just had as an .mp3 file on their computer which they hosted on vocaroo to get it to play on the website.

At first I thought this was an ARG, again apologies about that. I'm really curious as well, I'll see what I can uncover.

This sounds really nice, so I'd like to know too.
A link to the website would be great, because there really isn't much to go on from the song itself.
Ditto on no Shazam results. I'm thus inclined to believe this may be an excerpt from some kind of soundtrack, but it could just be super obscure.
Again, if we knew more about the site we could hazard the guess that this is an original track from the owner. Also, if the song was playing natively on the site and not through vocaroo, the filename would likely hold a clue to its origins as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a relatively obscure jungle track from a collection like this:

I threw it into audacity, copied and pasted it to the end, cut out a very small amount of beginning silence and wouldn't you know, it's an absolutely perfect loop. I am now certain this is something from a video game or any other program where music like this would just loop endlessly.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, I'm getting hold music vibes. Could be an avenue to pursue if we don't get any other info.

No, they fetched the link from the website and then downloaded the file directly. I just uploaded it to Vocaroo to post it here. I suppose a link to the direct file would help though https://kikyou.space/res/bgm/home-loop.ogg

Thanks.
Looking at the sheer... effort... put into the main site, I don't think I have any reason to disbelieve this isn't just a custom track made by the dev. Only thing that could further prove it is if we knew whether or not they produced other music.

On that note, how did your friend know the owner passed away? Any socials or other sites? I could only find the owner's email on the page, which I don't imagine would be very useful anymore.

Ah, well, for starters, we found their site when we were searching for something else and decided to message this person to see if they knew anything about what we were looking for. Time passed, no response, and then we somehow ended up coming across this link: https://lewd.sx/d/6033-in-loving-memory-of-sanya-schmidt
At first it seemed kind of suspicious but it was confirmed with the person, and they even gave an email to an investigator who took care of it.
I'm assuming this is just a bunch of their aliases, so the owner cannot be contacted.

It's certainly possible, I don't know enough about the person to say whether or not they could've made this track in particular. I did hear that they made some tracks though, but I don't know what those would be. I'd have to ask. I just know things from secondhand sources, like the person who made that post.

Thanks for the lead. I shot them an email asking since it's a lot of videos to go through. Hopefuly I find something
I've combed through maybe 100 already and nothing yet, though the band Haujobb has a couple tracks that sound like they're in the ballpark, but not quite.

Something else I should probably mention is that the site is a fan archive of information from the Tsuki Project website, a Serial Experiments Lain inspired ARG.

(This is a backup of the site, as it went down upon the ARG's conclusion, hence the need for Sanya to make her own archive)

Based on her post history on lewd, and that there's literally a picture of Lain on the site, its should come as no surprise that Sanya was a Lain fan.

Anyway, on the site's musicbox has an option under "Error Pages" called "404," a track from producer Drax, who is linked in the lewd post and has several tracks on soundwave's channel.

All this is to say there's a very solid connection between all of this, so I'm optimistic that the track may be sourced from soundwave.

Also, a reply to the lewd post from a friend of Sanya's links to a compilation album featuring a song of hers, under the name Fighting Fire With Gasoline. The Discogs page for that name only has two tracks, neither of which quite fit the vibe of our mystery track, though they were likely still inspired by the same kind of music put out on soundwave.

Well yes, that's how I came across it.
To put it mildly, I was researching into the identity of Tsuki (and some associates) himself along with a friend, a few years after the fact, when we decided to look into Sanya because I think the two of them were dating at some point. I actually know Dimden, the guy who owns that Systemspace archive, he decided to set it up after my friend started doing research, and the previous guy who had an archive set up for it removed it for some reason
As for why I was looking into his identity despite him not owning that site for years now? Well, I'm not going to get into that, that's a whole other mess. If you're really curious about that you can message me though.

Anyway, that's how I found their site.

You have a contact method on this guy? I'd love to message him if I can.

I vaugely remember something about Tsuki, what was it about? Also we need more threads like this
Honestly can't even remember anymore, just some suicide pact kinda thing, that if they did it they would enter a new world/dimension or whatnot. It's very interesting but I believe that's mainly what happened
