all these news sites calling the Mu variant new even though it was identified 8 months ago.
"first detected in Colombia in January 2021"
all these news sites calling Ivermectin horse paste/dewormer even though it has been used to treat hundreds of millions of people and those who discovered it won the Nobel Prize for medicine. Even worse:

View: https://twitter.com/us_fda/status/1429050070243192839

"Ivermectin was introduced in 1981.[63] Half of the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded jointly to Campbell and Ōmura for discovering avermectin, "the derivatives of which have radically lowered the incidence of river blindness and lymphatic filariasis, as well as showing efficacy against an expanding number of other parasitic diseases".[14]
By 1986, ivermectin was registered for use in 46 countries and was administered massively to cattle, sheep and other animals.[64] Ivermectin was approved for human use in 1988.[65] Ivermectin earned the title of "wonder drug" for the treatment of nematodes and arthropod parasites.[66] Ivermectin has been used safely by hundreds of millions of people to treat river blindness and lymphatic filariasis.[67]"

A lot of pharmaceutical companies are profiting a lot from the whole actual happening, and of course capitalism being capitalism the companies wouldn't play fair and probably would be doing shady stuff.

Kinda sad when most leftists just end up denying most criticism of this situation and of the pharma as "kooky conspiracy", when they should be the ones questioning the pharma and their shady practices instead of trumpists (the ironies of life I guess).

Because that's how propaganda works. You manufacture a narrative that serves your needs. The "Ivermectin = horse meds" one is funny though, because its effectiveness illustrates how poorly most people understand the basics of medicine. Medicines often treat multiple conditions, and even multiple species. The history of medicine is littered with cases of some company trying to find a cure for x, failing, but accidentally discovering a treatment for y instead. Biology is weird, complicated and unexpected.

That said the intensity of the propaganda really is insane. I figured they might let up once the election was manipulated in their favor, but clearly not. Full blast 24/7 from now on I guess.

Also the "hey fellow kids" tone of that FDA tweet is sickening. The FDA is unbelivably corrupt, almost to the point of being evil, and was long before all this Covid shit started. They can fuck right the hell off.

Viagra is a perfect example of what you describe

sildenafil is a blood thinner. One side effect observed in male patients was erections

Some blood thinners like warfarin were also developed initially as rat poison. If a rat takes warfarin, they will bleed out because it's so effective.

Along the same theme, although not really "medicine," caffeine exists in nature because it's a pesticide. Kills bugs dead (and potentially even small mammals). We're just big enough that it becomes recreational. Point being, overall, that medication and diet aren't just simple matters of "good", "bad" and "This thing does this." Specifics and context are key.

Which things will change after the pandemic?
I would think people will be detached from social media mainly facebook.
Oh man I really appreciate your optimism because for sure that's being way too optimistic, but yes there have been some people detaching themselves from the main platforms because of this event.

I was one of them, only really go on >redditcostanzayeahrightsmirk now for crypto subreddits and conspiracy. eventually the idiots on >redditcostanzayeahrightsmirk will probably come for crypto >redditcostanzayeahrightsmirk and I'll have to find new places.

quit Facebook years ago, and deleted all the social media from my phone to replace it with more useful apps. probably one of the best decisions I've ever done

Nobody is trying to explain this, why after their aggressive vaccination program they're seeing so many cases and they're the first to introduce and require the third shot, just "immunity wanes over time".

The current narrative seems to be that the shots "reduce the severity of symptoms," and are still "somewhat" effective at reducing transmission. "Just think how bad it would be if we didn't have vaccines!"

The question of why the virus seems to be targeting the most vaccinated countries in the world is less easy to respond to.

It's a pressing question though, 'experts' should at least try to give some answers.

This is pretty bad.
"On Friday, Rolling Stone's Peter Wade took another stab - publishing a hit piece claiming that Oklahoma ERs were overflowing with people 'overdosing on horse dewormer.'
It was suspect from the beginning.
The report, sourced to local Oaklahoma outlet KFOR's Katelyn Ogle, cites Oklahoma ER doctor Dr. Jason McElyea - claimed that people overdosing on ivermectin horse dewormer are causing emergency rooms to be "so backed up that gunshot victims were having hard times getting" access to health facilities. [...]
"The scariest one that I've heard of and seen is people coming in with vision loss," the doctor said.
Except, the article provided zero evidence for McElyea's claims, causing people to start asking questions.
'Good stock photo though: gun shot victims standing in line at the hospital while wearing winter coates in August.'
And while neither KFOR or Rolling Stone mention the hospital McElyea worked for, NHS Sequoyah, located in Sallisaw, Oklahoma - just issued a statement disavowing McElyea's claims, which pops up when you visit their website. It reads:
...
NHS Sequoyah has not treated any patients due to complications related to taking ivermectin. This includes not treating any patients for ivermectin overdose."

What's going on with the world?
Intrastate travel within Australia is also severely restricted. And the government of South Australia, one of the country's six states, developed and is now testing an app as Orwellian as any in the free world to enforce its quarantine rules. Returning travelers quarantining at home will be forced to download an app that combines facial recognition and geolocation. The state will text them at random times, and thereafter they will have 15 minutes to take a picture of their face in the location where they are supposed to be. Should they fail, the local police department will be sent to follow up in person. "We don't tell them how often or when, on a random basis they have to reply within 15 minutes," Premier Steven Marshall explained. "I think every South Australian should feel pretty proud that we are the national pilot for the home-based quarantine app."

a year or two from now there'll be an Omega variant and then they'll run out of greek letters to work with
and with that South Australian app you just KNOW the wealthiest among them will not have to follow the tyrannical rules they're using to enforce this.
