Yeah dw, the other characters will be more complex. He essentially represents the joke character in VNs, largely inspired by characters like Ryouma Hoshi, Teruteru Haramura, and mascot characters like Teddy from Persona 4. His art style does not match, he is very unique, and ends up become one of the most popular characters as he is so distinct (well hopefully as I really like him)

Postan in ebin bread. That aside, hope your project turns out well. Currently making my own, working title is 'Ping Pong Gals', never thought writing dialogue would be so time consuming, let alone working on all the code for it .

Cheers to both of us!

I'm using Tyrano as I'm skrub. What are you using and would you recommend Visual Novel Maker?

Thanks boss, she's still some time from completion though; I'll keep this in mind for when she's done.

Can't really say anything for Tyrano, haven't used it, but I was working on PPG in Renpy before switching to Godot; was hoping it would make certain parts of the design process go faster... don't really think its helped much though.

Previous statement aside, just use whatever works the best for your project and come off looking the most professional, I'm not going to pretend to be a veteran in this.

Learning GoDot is more valuable though. Can do a lot more in GoDot. We wanted to make an Agora Road game but didn't really have the devs. We have the artists and people like me but not devs. I actually really like GoDot too. Seems like a great program and no hidden fees.

I can help along the way too bro. If you need connections for music, art, ect. Can also help you organize and prepare for a launch. There's a lot of little things you can do now to help build up some interested people too.

Thanks Doc.

Idk about Tyrano, but Renpy is pretty much the industry standard for western VNs. What's nice about it is that it's easy to do the standard stuff, usually you can do less conventional stuff with a bit of creative thinking, and because it's Python based, if you ever get any really out of the box ideas you could always code that section (or have somebody else code that section) in python. So Renpy is simultaneously easy to use, but very flexible. It's also 100% free and has been actively in development for over 15 years now.

Regarding Visual Novel Maker, my understanding is that it isn't very flexible with what you can do with it. Although you might not think you will do anything outside the box at first, down the line in development that could (and often does) change.

Renpy for the most part has a very simple language, the thing is you CAN do other cool stuff with it in python, like make a cool ping pong mini game.

Like a simple scene is this:

label def:
define A = Character("(you)")
label start:
scene house1
show gf_normal
A "Too easy baby"

Anyone can do it, so don't be discouraged by the python m8. Just imagine the tab indents are present, cause they don't show up when I post it lol.

REN-PY! REN-PY! REN-PY! the crowd cheers.

You ignore them. You're too good for them. Renpy is for losers making loser games, like Fault Milestone One and Doki Doki Literature Club.

You sit back down in front of Tylenol and grasp your mouse to drag yet another speech bubble into place.

New character idea for the novel.
I love her design!
