What cancelled sitcom best describes your life?

This is a somewhat hard question for me. Of all the sitcoms I've been sucked into through reruns, I can't really think of one that perfectly describes my life at the moment lol. But if there had to be one that semi-relates to my life, it would have to be The Parkers oddly enough. I'm currently in college and my mom just got back into school again, and we're both navigating through it in our own ways.

What does Vaporwave mean to you?

The way in which I view vaporware is almost fever dream esc, calming, and overall like an exploration/glimpse into what the internet use to be (best way I can explain it lol). And as weird as this may sound, I also find it to be attractive-- that's really the only word I can use to fully explain of what Vaporware means to me. Or rather how I view it. I just recently got into it I'm fairly new, so for the most part these are just my first/initial impressions of it.

What subgenres are you most into?

I see everyone else posting subgenres mostly to do with vaporwave, so I'm just gonna go with a little bit of everything. (again I'm fairly new to this as I've mentioned in the previous question--so please don't judge me too hard

What do you do for fun?

I draw (mostly on my iPad), read, hang out with friends, go to the beach, listen to music, browse the internet, and watch horro/sci-fi/mystery type shows and movies. Especially, old movies.

I never thought of vaporwave as a form of attraction, could you elaborate on what you mean by that? Regardless if can or can't, what you said is still a great summary of vaporwave imo. I wish I remembered my initial thoughts on the genre.

What cancelled sitcom best describes your life?

I sadly never watched Sitcoms as a child as much as my mother and her sisters did but if I had to choose
a sitcom show that best describe my life, it be The Wonder Years.

What does Vaporwave mean to you?

It gives me a sense of nostalgia a more rosy look into the 80s, 90s, and possibly 00s. A more cheerful outlook
of the society and culture in those times.

What subgenres are you most into?

I don't listen to Vaporwave as much so I say some classics of the genre when it was more of remixes of previous existing
songs or samples edited in a way to make it alien in a sense. I do listen to Rock and Roll more often than not and for those
subgenres, Prog Rock, Psychedelic Rock, and Alternative Rock would do for me.

How did you find out about this place?

I found this site though a link someone post in a thread regarding the situation with Kiwifarms (I'm only a lurker there. Not a regular really.) and instantly fell in love with the site's layout and theming. I am glad I found this website.

What do you do for fun?

I like to draw or sketch stuff though I am not consistent in my art. I also like to research stuff such as History for example. I am a massive Romaboo and generally just like talking to people honestly.

I hope to become well versed into the community in the coming future!

What does Vaporwave mean to you?

It makes me sad. I see a world where people don't have hope for the future, so look back to the past, but the further along we go, the more ephemeral it becomes.

What subgenres are you most into?

I don't really listen to vapourwave, but I really like electro swing, and future funk is pretty good.

Most of the sitcoms I remember from my youth were either really bad disney channel schlock or 50+ year old shows my mom used to watch when she was a kid, but those shows were old even back then. Out of them, I'd say McHale's Navy is probably the one the most closely describes my own life - a feeling of whiplash between intense leisure and very serious, painful situations.

What does Vaporwave mean to you?

Got into vaporwave through spinoff "wave" subgenres such as synthwave. Great music and aesthetic, and it's more fun to discuss than other music genres I like because the community is generally better.

What do you do for fun?

That's a good question, I guess I'm trying to figure that out myself. I spend a lot of time doing research and I'm a big Germaniboo, but I'm not sure I'd say it's something I do for fun, rather than something I do by compulsion. Sometimes fun seems as demanding and dreary as work to me. I suppose I'd say writing is the thing I most enjoy doing on its own merits. I didn't write very much as a kid even though I loved writing because I lacked any sort of community to show what I made to, and I didn't find online forums specializing in fiction or poetry until much later. I feel like I'm out of practice, in a way, so I've been trying to write more recently and gain some experience in the craft.

I also really like talking to people. I went my entire middle and high school life without a single friend IRL or online, and even in college I haven't made any IRL friends, but I've been able to find online friends since and it's really helped me move forward. High school was a very painful time for my family, and I was kind of alone to the point I didn't even think I was capable of making friends or socializing properly. So I like finding people who I genuinely enjoy talking to, and it feels nice when they say they like talking to me.

I am gonna post some new questions for myself, as I feel some of these questions wouldn't crack any doors into my life, I hope that is ok.

What video game really connected with you?
LISA: The Painful RPG, I really dig the intense and torturous themes in the painful and I fell in love with that "glass half full" or "stand right back up after you're beaten down" type of mentality that LISA sells to you.
What does Vaporwave mean to you?
It's great as a new modern genre of music. When I was really into it I found the kinda ominous aesthetics and chill jams really nice, also 90's aesthetics are really appealing, despite me not being around to really experience them.
What subgenres are you most into?
I never really dove too deep into vaporwave to realize that there were entire subgenres of it, however I suppose I listened to a lot of simpsonwave and the like, the original macintosh stuff as well.

I happened upon an advertisement on 4chan while I was in some thread on /vg/, looked more than some scam or bad meme so I decided to click it, glad I did. :D

i don't watch sitcoms at all, though i distinctly remember enjoying "I Love Lucy" when i was younger. a more esoteric sitcom would perhaps be "WandaVision", if that counts.

it's been a long time since i've listened to anything Vaporwave, and to be honest, i never took it up much. however, from my brief recollections, i think it represents an interesting spin on the nostalgia of the past. it's artistic motifs make it much more of a lateral move to historical research of the era (the 80's and 90's i believe?) and nostalgia, rather than any inverse, right?

from the Dead Internet Theory thread on this very forum, actually. i was searching it up on Google and i think it was about the 3rd result down. so my very first visit to the Macintosh Cafe was January of this year when the theory cropped up on /x/...i was drawn to the fresh and unique design of the forum and the replies in the thread were insightful enough that it landed in my head.

What do you do for fun?
i like reading discussion and contributing to it. however, i'm somewhat asynchronous in writing, so i thought i'd kind of supercharge my discussion by joining a dedicated forum, rather than just skip between twitter threads.

i also like learning for the sake of learning. recently, i've had pronounced interest in personal knowledge management. it's not only to filter through the immense information on the internet, but also to play with my own existing stores of knowledge.

i'm also getting back into coffee. i won't be tousled up with the fine science of the coffee, but you might hear me talk about the java from time to time. it really is fun! (i currently have an AeroPress with a 1zpresso JX grinder on the way.)

Happy Days. I seem normal, albeit outdated at first, but I slowly reveal myself to be stranger and stranger until all I have left is to jump the shark.

What does Vaporwave mean to you?

Technically I didn't "grow up in the 90's", but I am able to remember 98, 99. My cousins grew up in the nineties though and hitting middle school in the early 2000's the 90's aesthetic was still very prevalent. So, its a little bit of nostalgia, little bit of what I wish I could have experienced more of.

Plus, its a space of chill, comfiness, reminiscent of a more analogue, adventurous era gone by.

Nu-horror core... oh wait, Vaporwave subgenres...? No idea, still floating through the chill aesthetic, finding my place.
