Great questions! I went to school for journalism but had a minor in English. I work with editors at the publications I contribute to, but I don't have an editor for my Substack/personal writing projects. I'm used to collaborating with editors, so I'm a bit out of my comfort zone. But I'm learning. :)
I would love an editor for my nonfiction. It just feels easier for me to be concise writing fiction. Maybe only sometimes, and maybe I'll get better. It's been a long time since I wrote. This board is helping me get back into it. Glad to have you here.

I hear you. Conciseness is something I struggle with too. I can imagine that would be easier with fiction writing, though it's been a while since I wrote anything that wasn't nonfiction. It's a tough skill to master for sure. Godspeed on your reentry into the writing world! Glad you're getting back into it.

'sup, I've been lurking this site for well over 3 years by now. If I recall correctly I found it from an ad while browsing /x/ back in 2020 and since then I've been reading threads every now and then. I can't say I'm too interested on the vaporwave side of this forum although I do like it. If I had to explain why, I think I would say that vaporwave is meaningful because it expresses memories of a perfect past that never was and that we wish we could re-experience, something which speaks to a lot of people in the modern age, saturated with post-modernism and cynical consumerism at every corner, vaporwave is a refuge, a refuge of a past that may have never existed, but that we still have a fond memory of, its comforting. I've been attracted to this site for the same reason, it's comfy and reading threads & discussions here is always a treat, it's completely different from the normal internet and that's what I like about it. Nice meeting you.

What subgenres are you most into?

All things synthwave. I want AR technology to eventually be able to
generate real life into a synthwave world. Or real anything.
I want to be alive when they merge the virtual world and the
real world.

How did you find out about this place?

I honesty forget.
I did not find this fourm through the normie internet, a general search engine,
or an Mongolian Basket Weaving Forum. I think I may have found it through the neocities web
and just added it. Either way, I am happy I did and I think it should stay that way. I am hoping
this place attracts a different type of audience then you see on social media.

What do you do for fun?

Web Surfing (Especially neocities), Working on my Website, Coding (Literal Anything),
Play with AI Tools, Playing with illusions, Video Games, Videoography (Video Projects and such),
Recording, Drawing, Mushrooms/Plants/Anything Nature, Script Writing, Reading (Literal Anything),
Exploring Forests, Computer Engineering, Math Problems, and VR Gaming from time to time.

  1. What cancelled sitcom best describes your life?
    1. Honestly, I dont know enough about canceled sitcom scripts but when i was much younger I really enjoyed Home Improvement.
  2. What does Vaporwave mean to you?
    1. Vaporwave reminds me of when i was younger playing games like Myst my G3 Mac (I had the teal one) but there is still much more to vaporwave than just throwing retro tech in your face and baiting nostalgia and I find the more subtle parts of the movement very fascinating.
  3. What subgenres are you most into?
    1. Not super sure where my personal interests fit as far as subgernes (im still new-ish to the vaporwave community despite being around it and being recommended a lot of vaporwave music) so ill share some of my favorite music that I feel fits the prompt Corporate Dreams discography, a couple of albums from Kagami Smile, Macroblank, and Haircuts for Men.
  4. How did you find out about this place?
    1. Through the game Disillusion, i found it in my search for a point and click adventure. Still playing through it right now but its quickly becoming a favorite of mine for its atmosphere and overall vibe.
  5. What do you do for fun?
    1. Explore the internet, find interesting music on bandcamp, play mostly retro or indie video games and go on late night drives. Feel free to hit me up sometime and we can talk about whatever :melhpy:

Howdy, I'll try baking up an intro post.

So, I discovered this place when the Dead Internet Theory posts were floating around on 4chan and similar places. I was mostly lurking here since then. I used to have an acc, but that didn't had anything to add to the site. I'll try to contribute and not abuse the "profile status" posts.

I simply was doing web-archeology via the wayback machine and realize that I totally want to vibe like it's 2002.

I like Vaporwave, but I also enjoy the retro waves we had with the 80s, 90s and 00s in general. While there are some nostalgic values for the genre and movement for me, it's about being cozy and choosing what one enjoys instead of just rolling with the trends.

I like reading, looking at art and thinking. I don't really want to put labels on me, I hate the labelpunk world that Twitter gave us. It's up to you to form an opinion about me after all. I like video games and media in general, but I relatively rarely consume them. Music is my main thing.

I want to get into the personal web, build at least a website of my own. I have other interests too, but man, I am lazy and have no talent. Also my AI anxiety nuked all creative aspirations I had. Who knows, maybe I can get my shit together and start doing things. Only time can tell. Still, Butlerian Jihad 4 lyfe.

In fact I want to post at least on a few forums, just to keep them alive somewhat. I've bailed the mega platforms, and don't plan on moving back anytime soon. I'll try to be the change that I want to see in the world.

Nice to meet you.
Crack open a beer if I get to make 5 posts.
