Yeah, basically this. I will get hate for this, but our self titled 56k Porn-Addict has been kinda treated too harshly. Sure, shilling your weird 3D anime porn is weird, but still I feel there should be a second chance. There wasn't even really a chance to see what the person was like that much. The DA account being recent is a bit weird, but eh. it's still in realm of possibilities. I would give a second chance assuming nothing bad happens.
Nah I agree. feller deserves a chance even if they are a degenerate shill cause maybe they are coo and will contribute a lot to the road

What do you do for fun?
What cancelled sitcom best describes your life?

None, I don't watch sitcoms and I don't really watch TV anymore.

What does Vaporwave mean to you?

It brings me into an era and place I never lived in. I find it fascinating that people make that magic with samples.

What subgenres are you most into?

Hmm... I don't know really but if I had to pick then retrowave.

How did you find out about this place?

Through a Youtube video about Dead Internet Theory.

What do you do for fun?

Programming, pretty much a beginner at it though. I also play bass.

I'm having a good time. I introduced myself, people are allowed to have opinions. No one has to buy anything and I'll keep my trash off the board. I listened to the radio in chat most of the day, I like this place. I really miss the old web, and this definitely captures a lot of that feeling.

Hey everyone. You can call me Atlas. this place seems like a nice spot to relax.

What does Vaporwave mean to you?
To me, Vaporwave is the biggest (and my favorite) genre of thing. From music to decor to internet forums. my favorite subsect of vaporwave would have to be like future funk or city pop. (music wise)

How did you find out about this place?
I was watching a video on some internet mystery and the youtuber had screenshotted a post on here. Seemed like the place to be. As soon as got on and started reading posts I knew this place was cool.

What do you like to do for fun?
Listening to music, attempting to make music, failing, doodling, videogames, longboarding, playing bass, and VR

You guys got any tips for a new user? Etiquette i don't know about? Secret history or conspiracies?

Hi everyone,

Grimace here.

What cancelled sitcom best describes your life?
I actually always loved the vibe of Taxi. I suppose growing up the 90s I always had a misplaced nostalgia for the late 70s.

What does Vaporwave mean to you?
I came into this world way back in 1986 and the older I get the more I realize this soulless 21st century reality just doesn't mesh with my essence. I first got into VW probably about '14-'15 and loved the vibe, totally clicked. Both deliciously nostalgic yet with that slight hint of subversion. That je ne sais quoi of being a child in 1994 and maybe finding a dirty VHS tape, chucking it in the clunky top-loader on a dark quiet night and experiencing that thrill of analog visual stimulation, big hair babes and broken tracking. Then popping the tape out, the TV returns to an ad for a late night party line. It was just a Saturday night alone at home in the 90s. Time to think. Time to dream. We had so much time. Vaporwave brings me back to that headspace. It feels freeing.

What subgenres are you most into?
Regarding Vaporwave, I suppose ambient, late night lo-fi, VHS Pop, & future funk. Outside of that I still return to my old punk/metal staples from time to time. (Love d-beat, classic death metal, etc) As I've gotten older I've also gotten more into jazz and got big into the Berlin school stuff in my 20s.

How did you find out about this place?
Going down the dead internet rabbithole, glad to find it!

What do you do for fun?
Not work. I really dig being out around nature these days if the weather isn't complete shit. Love to geek out to obscure old albums and movies, explore and travel, etc. I'd like to be more creative and get back into making music - was in a few bands in highschool/college, always had a blast. Also love going down conspiracy rabbit holes and discussing psychedelic experiences. Art Bell is out there somewhere.

I suck at this. Don't even remember the last time I had a forum signature. Guess it's time for a comeback, can't always be anonymoose.
So I like listening to stuff that sounds nice regardless of genre; I'm not really good with categorising genres, anyway. Or naming groups. Or naming songs. I will say, though - dino synth is the future. This place looks cozy, I miss my old Windows (can't believe it's been 5 years since I said goodbye to XP ;_;7) and it's been too long since I've participated on a real forum so might as well post something, right?

Anyway, as tribute, here's a nice little gem I came across a while ago;

Kinda underwhelming considering I made this account, went to work, had all that time to think of something witty, and yet here's this post. Get used to it, eh))))

What cancelled sitcom best describes your life?
I don't really relate to any sitcoms I can think of off the top of my head but I'll rattle off some for a gist of my sense of humour; Black Books, All Aussie Adventures, Ren & Stimpy, Red vs Blue (Early seasons before the lore got bloated), Angry Beavers, Big Lez Show and I just recently got into a binge of Foamy the Squirrel since that cracked me the fuck up back in the day. The rants feel preachier than they used to but it's still a fun saga.

What does Vaporwave mean to you?
I might get banhammered for this heresy but I don't care for like 95% of the 80's pop slowed down to a codeine nod style music but I do like that weird mall/utopian style, it's very hit and miss for me though. The visual aesthetics I like more often, stuff like this website, pixel art and shit that reminds me of my youth on the web in the late 2000's to early 2010s where forums were hand crafted before >redditcostanzayeahrightsmirk and facebook pages became the standardised places for people to discuss their interests/hobbies. Not even counting the forum aspect, I used to spend more time reading individually crafted websites with interesting features placed by people who were passionate enough to put their interests online, now it's all hosted on a handful of major sites that all feel like the same monoculture.

In a nutshell it's like a whole ton of diverse little towns with their unique attributes and demographics have been swallowed up by a few generic cosmopolitan cities filled with individuals trying to superficially carve themselves out from the crowd while simoultaneously shunning any legitimate individuality. Like how the coworkers in American Psycho kept confusing Patrick with Paul Allen. I don't give a fuck about your eggshell white business card or your >redditcostanzayeahrightsmirk karma or your hot takes you picked up from an "Influencer" authority figure, give me a cacophony of eye-searing flashy gifs and your favourite cringy music autoplaying on your myspace profile any day.

I've grown to loathe minimalist web design, so that's definitely a part of why I'm here and nostalgia, like I think most people here, is definitely a part of it for me. Part of it also is acknowledging that if I'm so sick of the major platforms, continuing to be there while complaining is impotent misery and 4chan wears me down like a pebble in a river of autistic screeching.

What subgenres are you most into?
Currently it's pretty hit or miss, once I see more of it I'll get to know where my tastes are. That reminds me though, there's two Vaporwave artists I've consistently enjoyed, one is Flamingosis and the other is Cybernazi. Not for political reasons, his music just always bopped for me and I'd get a giggle when he'd sample in Hitler speeches, it might be the contrast of retrofuturistic sound effects seasoned with speeches from a 1940's dictator.

How did you find out about this place?
4chan ad.

What do you do for fun?
I live in a relatively small city in northern Australia so there's a fair bit of camping and fishing, not nearly as much as I'd like to. I just got a fish tank I might post pictures of as I stock it with new frens. I spent 90% of last year drinking as my only recreational activity so I'm trying to be less of a dead liver doomer this year and cultivate healthier hobbies. I might post some writing if I finally get around to the projects I've noted down.

That's it for me, I didn't intend to write as much as I did but I hope anyone reading found it pleasant. You have a nice community and I'm happy to be here. Cheers.

Hello, I am not very interesting so I do not usually make forum introductions but might as well. I am a NEET that is nostalgic about the old internet and enjoys vaporwave so thus I am here. And yes my dad is a car
What cancelled sitcom best describes your life?
I am not a sitcom person to be honest. I think Community is the only one I've watched, except for the first 2 episodes of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air because haha funny opening song
What does Vaporwave mean to you?
a e s t h e t i c s

I do not usually look very deep into the media I consume, but I have always been fond of vaporwave more or less, whether it's because of the music or just because of the aesthetics of it. I got really into future funk in 2020 and 2021. It is weird how that works, I listened to vaporwave back in 2016-17, abandoned it for the most part though still enjoying the aesthetics, then stumbled across future funk and fell in love again.
...that doesn't really answer it though, does it? I guess vaporwave means the past to me; with the whole 80s aesthetic and how absorbed I was with it in 16-17. Future funk also helped me quite a lot in a dark period in my life, so I guess future funk is sorta like hope? Maybe. I would delete the other paragraph but this is about learning more about me.
What subgenres are you most into?
Future funk, obviously.
How did you find out about this place?
Someone mentioned it on Lainchan as one of the only good sites left, of course one should always trust people who say that something is "One of the only good ones left" so I went and looked it up. I am inclined to agree with them, this seems up my alley.
What do you do for fun?
Read, write, I sometimes make music, consume media, consume nutrients and try to learn new skills. Been thinking about learning how to ride a bike finally, or making a website without wix or any of those builders, we need to bring back personal websites.

What does Vaporwave mean to you?
Vaporwave is a genre that takes me back to a place and time I've never been in, kind of like feeling nostalgia for experiences you never had.

What subgenres are you most into?

I mostly listen to future funk, butI do have a fair bit of lo-fi/vaporwave, and a tiny bit of synthwave in my music library. Also tons of weeb stuff, Hiroyuki Sawano is *the* stuff

How did you find out about this place?
I actually created my account several months ago, but I never did anything with it and forgot about it. What reminded me of it was an article I was reading earlier today about the 'Dead Internet' theory.

What do you do for fun?
I like reading articles about all kinds of stuff, I've lately been taking an interest towards high strangeness and the nature of consciousness. I'm also big into gacha games, though I tend to focus on a single one at a time and switch every couple years or so. I used to watch a lot of anime until last year but now I can barely keep up with a couple shows a season. Also I would love to get into fantasy writing but I have no idea how to start.
