What cancelled sitcom best describes your life?
I've never been a sitcom guy, so I couldn't say here. Imagining a sitcom similar to my life paints a pretty boring picture though, haha.

What does Vaporwave mean to you?
I think for me, getting into vaporwave some years back kind of coincided with a transition in my life, moving away from being an edgy teenager, mellowing out and becoming a more optimistic and happy person. My mental state is somewhere these days where this type of music matches my mood more than the black metal and industrial I used to be more into. It's also a genre that I feel is often influenced by a lot of media that influenced me personally, 90's video games and anime, and it's fun to hear the samples and see the influences emerge. I also spend a ton of time studying, and the lack of vocals makes it easier to focus through. Additionally, it's a genre with a wealth of content that I actually enjoy, where in other genres I find I have to sift through a lot more to find a record i like. I never feel like I'm out of new vaporwave to listen to. I would also say music in general is important to me as a tool for a lot of things, elevating my mood, making boring tasks easier to stomach, helping me to sleep, etc.

What subgenres are you most into?
As I mentioned, I'm big into dreampunk for the most part. I've dabbled in more conventional vaporwave like groceries and DDS, and I enjoy that style but it's not something I find myself in the mood to play most of the time. I became aware of the whole scene through Bludhoney with OSCOB and Digital Sex's Overgrowth (the name's a coincidence though), and Wuso's Lonely Streets, and it spiraled from there. As far as dreampunk goes, I'm more a fan of the techno-adjacent side of things than the more ambient side, but I enjoy both. Off the top of my head, some artists I really enjoy are Mutilomaquia, Pokotan91, Ex Aquis, QMDX, ||nothing||, The Microgram, and Phorme.

How did you find out about this place?
The Agora Road account followed me on twitter a while back, and I procrastinated coming here and checking it out for several months.

What do you do for fun?
I've got a lot of hobbies, but I'm kind of a jack of all trades in that respect more than being particularly absorbed in or good at any one thing. I like video games, emulating old ones and playing some newer, mostly online stuff. I watch anime and movies, play guitar, dabble with other instruments, work out, hike, read, and collect tapes, among other things. I browse the internet and spend too much time scrolling through twitter, hence why I'm here. I'm a big fan of horror media. And of course I spend a lot of time discovering and listening to new music.

What does Vaporwave mean to you?
Partly nostalgia for an era that never was and how it can take me to certain places in my head like utopian shopping malls, the night-time streets of Tokyo, retro-age grocery stores, or even other worlds or planes of existence. It can also be incredibly relaxing or even uplifting for me and I dig the aesthetic of vaporwave a lot.

What subgenres are you most into?
Lately I've really gotten into late-night lo-fi like stuff from vcr-classique, reminds me of the 80's-90's smooth jazz music I'd hear as a kid when I'd go grocery shopping with my grandma, brings back a lot of good memories. Other notable mentions are utopian virtual, hypnagogic drift, mallsoft, and of course future funk.

How did you find out about this place?
Through my girlfriend, she heard about it elsewhere and thought it'd be something I'd be into. I can see why, I absolutely love the visuals here, reminds of the olden internet days when things were better.

What do you do for fun?
I draw on occasion, been having trouble finding that same passion for it I used to have in my school days though. Cooking is something I picked up somewhat recently (about a year and a half ago I think...?), it's incredibly useful and feels rewarding but can be a bit messy. Also been learning japanese just for personal growth, it's been on my bucketlist for years. Wish I took classes for it in high school when I had the chance. As for less productive things I do for fun, I play video games and watch anime.

Dunno how much I'll end up posting here, I'm usually a lurker but maybe this will be an exception.

Vaporwave is just really cozy to me and, like a lot of other people's answers, it brings me back to a time that never really existed but I thought did. There's just something about fuzzy VHS glitches and chopped up lounge music samples that gives me warmth.

Hey all, I'm zweiton. I make ambient music, including things within the realms of vaporwave on my side projects. I really enjoy the genre, and I found this forum on one of the numerous imageboards I frequent. Thought it would be a comfy place to hang out.

I really like the darker subgenres of vaporwave, especially things like b e g o t t e n and Doormat Matador, although many wouldn't consider the latter a vaporwave artist, he sure sounds it.

It is a very important part of my musical selection. I often see things with my mind's eye in that specific VHS style, slightly blurry, a pinch of glitches here and there. And vaporwave provides that muffled, intra-uterine, sound that goes so well with the images I form in my head.

And being a technologically inclined person, I often end up in situations where I'm tempted to send out an email respectfully informing everyone that a fire has broken out.

What does Vaporwave mean to you?
I find Vaporwave representative of everything good about the Internet, and I mean that fully seriously. The free spirit suffused into eclectic mashups of Greco-Roman busts, hypnotic Egyptian beats droning on in the background, and 80s CG suns and moons glittering in the night sky of the Metaverse is the same free spirit which the Internet offers humanity. Knowledge of our common history, and the ability to communicate it across the globe, to share the unique mantle of human experience; the tools to produce art and beauty limited only by our imagination. It's a wonderful genre.

I'm a big fan of future funk. Anything with jazz elements is also automatically a personal favorite.

I don't remember how I heard of it originally, but I read a Medium article about it recently, and it seemed like a nice place to be.

I got into Vaporwave when I started becoming more interested in the past and how the past saw the future then the actual future. I feel like that is a really weird way to put it, but it works for me. Vaporwave is like a call back to a world that never existed except in the imagination and that is a wonderful thing. There is both a warmth and excitement to Vaporwave.

Future Funk, probably to the extent that it is more honest to say that I listen to more Future Funk then I do to actual Vaporwave.

Ruqqus. I was browsing on the +GamingNostalgia guild and saw a link back to here. I started lurking and liked what I saw because it ticks all of the right boxes for my retro-inclined tastes.

What do you do for fun?
Well I do a lot of reading and I have written some things here and there off and on for some time. My major interest is history, especially Japanese and Chinese with the Classical West thrown in and a mishmash from different eras of American history, such as the crisis years leading up the Revolution, the Early Republic, the Civil War, and the Gilded Age through to the Progressive Era. I also do a lot of things related to retro-gaming and retro-computing. I like building computers, though I am not the best at it and understanding how consoles work.
