If you haven't already I would highly recommend going to a jazz club. There's one near where I live and it's expensive so we can't go often but every time we do it's a great night. Also interesting to see how jazz has dramatically changed when you compare the modern jazz scene to the classics.

One band I highly recommend is Estradasphere, though they're not exclusively jazz, more experimental and aren't afraid to mix several genres into a single song. Their debut LP is incredible.

I know it's one of those albums that gets posted all the time on the internet, but there's nothing like hearing A Love Supreme for the first time. It is seriously one of the greatest records ever made, if you haven't heard it I highly recommend. John Coltrane is the best.
