Thinking of switching from Ubuntu to void. What are the trade offs and are they worth it?

I mean you can basically make void like Ubuntu. Its just a barebones system you build yourself so you can make it however you want. The trade off is you have to do it yourself rather than having a complete system out of the box

Because I'm a scrub. show me the way
What is neon? :kannaSippyn:

It's KDE's own distro with the latest releases of Plasma and KDE applications; it's built off of Ubuntu LTS. There were talks about it's future when Canonical decided to tie the knot with Flutter.
Kubuntu is pretty nice out of the box. I never liked Ubuntu all that much until now
There's always a trade-off between magic software and end-user friendliness. Everything's great until something breaks because you're in some edge case not defined in the testing/deployment pipeline. Even Windows suffers from this, and Apple mitigates it by controlling the hardware it's software runs on.

I was thinking of trying out AlterLinux, a Japanese based distro designed to make it easy to install unlike normal arch linux. What do you think? Should I try it out or try out Ubuntu MATE instead?

Mint with Cinnamon is extremely comfy to me, it's the distro I always recommend newcomers.

I tried out KDE Neon recently and I really liked it, but Plasma has a really annoying bug on my laptop where the screen will just glitch for 2 seconds whenever I wake it up from sleep. Apparently it's getting fixed with 5.25, so I'll wait until that's fixed then I'll probably move to Arch + KDE
