America has degraded culturally to such a point that the mass shooting is a kind of sport even more American and fake than the WWE. I remember how on the post-Columbine internet people started joking about "high scores" and it has evolved, as all edgy onlineness has evolved since back then, into something deadly serious. In 2023 mass shootings are an entertainment product complete with characters, plot twists, storylines, fanfiction, licenses, merchandise, adaptations, franchises, sequels, crossovers, and so on. They don't really have spoilers though.
This shooting is very firmly in the "lgbt" plotline, the last episode of which was club q. The "score" isn't as high as that or the the LGBT/GWOT crossover known as Pulse and indeed, if it wasn't for the identity of the shooter it's doubtful anyone would have even bumped this thread over it.
I was expecting the next one in this plotline to be an even bigger version of Club Q, perhaps with a manifesto filled with all kinds of Glinner/JKR shoutouts for maximum chaos as post-christchurch shootings feel incomplete without a pdf containing a massive infohazard payload. What a twist! Club Q also lacked a manifesto, which is odd given that the perpetrator came from Encyclopedia Dramatica - guess those guys are a little softer than their 8chan descendants.
Anyway the school has a bit of a checkered background. Some article snippets floating around Twitter:
Every possible angle of this stinks. This is far from the first mass shooting that has (or may have) a molestation revenge motive and it's not the
first one with an FtM perp either.
Indeed the most interesting question here is why wasn't the manifesto posted anywhere? The cop bodycam footage was uploaded seemingly as quickly as it could be copied off the fucking things and uploaded, and there's lots of mention of this document in all of the news releases, but for some insane reason the perp didn't follow traditvn and post it on an imageboard. Or did he?
Given how brightly 4chan glows now that so many others have posted this kind of stuff to it for so long, I do wonder if they've got some kind of state-of-the-art AI sinkhole that catches these kinds of posts before anyone can see them, kinda like what they do with kiddie porn. It's not like they don't have a reason to build such a thing and the tech is obviously there. That's my personal theory of what happened to the manifesto anyway.
Kinda interesting that this manifesto potentially contains god knows what kind of allegations against the people who ran that school and we can't read it, while the copy-pasted memefests posted by the standard-issue racist shooters were easy to find more or less instantly.
