QTTabar - Used to be quite known among the Windows ricers ( especially windows 7 ricers) . It adds many features to your windows explorer including Explorer Tabs so in case you are a windows user and do not want to upgrade to latest version of Winbloat11 you could get this software instead. It works on versions older than windows10 too

I use most of those in scripts soo some of those might seem useless individually but they are great help with other programs.

Herbe
simple stupid notification program, it displays the most basic notification box imaginable.

Qutebrowser
a really cool keyboard driven chromium based browser with minimal UI.

Keynav
emulate mouse movements from keyboard, It is soo good i don't use mouse except when i was playing games and drawing.

links browser
terminal based browser with image preview, perfect for tor usage, not for anything else.

sfeed
rss reader and parser, a complex program for the user but even with 0 coding knowledge you can modify the code after reading it once, when you understand it you essentially automate your internet usage soo really usefull.

xbanish
makes the mouse cursor disappear when you click a keyboard key

I haven't messed with it in a long while but the Sword of Moonlight: King's Field maker tool is a piece of software made by Fromsoft that lets you well... make King's Field games.
It actually has a small community and a few games released using it, with the two I'm most familiar with being Trismegestus and Motheria.

Hard to say, I can definitely recommend King's field 2 and 3, most people consider them better than 4.
As for the maker games, I liked Trismegestus, it's actually a "point and click" game made in the engine some of the puzzles are jerks, but i had fun with it.
My opinion on Moratheia is... I played an early release version of it like 10 years ago and it's currently on v2.1 so I don't think my opinion on it is any good.

You can find Moratheia and the maker program here in the forum section and main site respectfully, and maybe the rest of the English-made full releases?
They used to all be available on the site, but I haven't been there in years and I cant find the download section they used to have.
You may also have to fiddle with some things to actually get to a download... fun I guess?
I actually still have a copy of Trismegestus, if you have a place I can dump/send it, otherwise you can try to find a download somewhere.

As for the maker tool, it's finicky and difficult to work with IIRC. Flex on the rest of the internet by releasing a game on steam made with it.
It also wouldn't surprise me if there where some Japanese projects made with it that rest on some very obscure corner of the internet, good luck finding those assuming they even exist.

Also, the old King's field games have controller remapping in the menu, so you don't have to deal with the jank early fromsoft default controls if you don't want to.

I recall using a particular software that I never hear about called Adventure Game Studio, which is for making 2D point-and-click adventure games. I ran across it when I was 12 and decided to make a game for a school project, but had left it to the last minute so I had to learn the engine and make an entire 'game' with it in a single night. Like with Sword of Moonlight, it's has a small dedicated community who push out their own titles, but I feel like most of those games just stay within that circle of the AGS community.

And here I was thinking that terminal browsers were just for Linux users who LARP as hackers, didn't even consider their performance.

LackeyCCG is a card game tabletop simulator. by that i mean you can load up your cards, connect to (or host) a server and play as if you played with printed proxies. it's old and it shows, it has its fair share of quirks and hiccups but it does its job perfectly. it's pretty much the only way i play magic the gathering now. it works with plugins, you need to find a lackey plugin (in the shape of a textfile or an url pointing to one) for the game that you want which supplies the card database and certain limited functions. it's not proper game logic though, you handle everything yourself as if you played paper. the magic plugin for example just has certain cards come in already tapped, applies a hover animations on flying creatures or creates tokens automatically when certain cards are put onto the battlefield. just simple convenient things like this. the linux version on the website doesn't work (or at least it didn't for me) but running the windows version through wine works flawlessly. i haven't tried the others

lackeyshot.jpg

it's really more than competent for what it is. once again, you are at the mercy of finding the plugin for the game you want to play, but i've seen plugins even for things like vampire the eternal struggle or android netrunners, i'm pretty sure someone has you covered. if not, making a plugin is easy, the only issue would be finding the card database. this also makes it an amazing tool to test out a card game you're making (which i believe is how lackey was originally conceived, as a tool to test homebrew card games, though i might be mistaken on that)

it's a shame really, AGS is amazing and the few games i've played made by the AGS community were great. the only game i can think of that somewhat breached containment away from the AGS inner circle is Gemini Rue. other than that i've seen a random AGS game once in a blue moon submitted to ludum dare. i wish it were a bit more popular. i love point and click adventure games, they're by far my favorite genre
