Old 4chan becomes a trending aesthetic for TikTok zoomers

I am also indifferent because I dislike 4chan except for /wg/, but I disagree it could have that effect. Simply, I think they like having their identity tied to what they say. So then, if anything they'd rather be forum posters.
I feel like 4chan is best for just the occassional scroll every few weeks or so, at least that's what I do. I find it funny to see how /pol/ is going apeshit wild when some big political event happens.

Is this what they call cultural appropriation?

Jokes aside this was inevitable, the way these nostalgic trends were heading it was only a matter of time. First it was Frutiger aero, then flash games, then old youtube, hell zoomers even got their own quirky boxxy tier eceleb girl.

For any oldfags present, how does it feel to see your culture being skinwalked by TikTok zoomers for social media clout?
I'm not going to pretend to be an oldfag but i've been around and I don't really mind it. Reminds me of the time where the place actually seemed to have some culture that wasn't just an edited wojack. At least they picked a fun, creative and somewhat innocent part of the site, but even that isn't tough to predict because it's the most easily romanticized part. As with anything tiktok related I don't expect it to last more then 2-3 weeks, at best some kiddos might pick up trying flash animation for a bit.

They yearn for a free and creative internet, too bad for them that ship has long since sailed.
(But not Haruhi, Rozen Maiden, or Gurren Lagann, or at least not yet.)
Or yotsuba, funnily enough.

You're giving these people lotsa credit by assuming they even watched the show in the first place.

Edit: went to /f/ again for old time sakes, shouldn't have. All I did was make myself sad.

Kinda crazy to me that Lucky Star can get popular again without Haruhi as well, just goes to show that these kids truly are just in it for the aesthetic. Since it's basically impossible to discuss Lucky Star without addressing it's constant referencing of popular shows of the time, with Haruhi being the one most referenced
haha ur giving these ppl way 2 much credit... half the time like @punisheddead posted abt they dont even watch the series they just look up a synopsis and absorb shit thru memes and such ...
its that pinterest sorta mindset where as long as it looks cool or sounds cool they want it ... they dont even have 2 enjoy it or anything, its just for the sake of "aesthetics"
and of course if no1 on their social media bubble is talking abt something, then wuts the point of partaking in it ? lel

They develop aesthetics and interests that are popular only because everyone else is doing it, they may not even like it at all, they just have a desire to fit in because there's no creative space to output their thoughts successfully, this is what zoomers would call "certified NPC moment". Labelling and categorizing people into groups has been a major mistake for society as a whole and is the main reason why we can't band together to get the old web back, we are forced to be polarized by these big corporations, while here on agora, there is no labelling(unless you're a retard)

It's whatever, if those children wanna fantasize on being some old 4chan, let them. It was way better then, then it is now anyways. If they can't handle people saying faggot or whatever slur they will go away themselves. Those who can will try to find more places that are like old 4chan.
Now 4chan is a really big site which has been there for so long, it used to be more of a community back then, with the otakon panels etc... those videos are gold, and very cringe (like everyone used to be), thing is, nowadays 4chan isn't that much of a community. It's a centralized website where nowadays everyone goes on, not just "outcasts"... Yes, outcasts go on there too still, but back then it was just that, weeaboos, tism, all that kinda stuff...
Now what I'm saying is, is it eally bad tiktok zoomer figure out what old 4chan was? It was a better place, and I still look up old flash animations from time to time as it's just very fun. 4chan is just too big of nowadays to really start defending it, it's not a sacred outcast only no girls allowed type of place anymore, it's a big part of the internet.
Still,,, summerfags need to LURK MOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR

If you go to most recent comments, you will see many underage users commenting about how spooky and scary 4chan is, but how super cool and a e s t h e t i c oldweb was, in spite of all the scary things like slurs, pornography, and people having the ability to freely express themselves without being censored.

Also, most tiktok zoomers that are interested in oldweb/oldcartoon are part of the barcode armed faggot club so it's only a matter of time until those that venture deeper into the roots of oldweb will hang themselves OR accept it
The what club?

Barcode = cuts in their arms from self-harm. It looks like a barcode
oh. and i thought barcode meant homogenized, mass-produced (shop-selling) products/visuals/aesthetics

Yeah, there's even a "clone" of old 4chan called Heyuri, in which most of the userbase is clearly underage and autistic due to their infantile sense of humor and roleplaying that we still are on 2007, just like other similar shitty 'retro websites' like Spacehey or Bitview.
But I'll give them credit for something, they really seem to be trying to capture that oldschool 4chan feeling, the site even has a board for lolicons and it's not hard to see people posting gore or hardcore pornography.
This is concerning, but hey at least they seem to be having fun I guess.

I don't see why people will clone stuff, in my opinion they're just trying to make a cheap copy of what became before them, I don't think the "old web" style is really old, everything just moved, places like Newgrounds are still sanctuaries, in my opinion the old web never died, it's just the massive influx of new internet users that made corporatized platforms the most popular.

How long till tiktok discovers Agora Road's Macintosh Cafe?
If it did, I think our concentrated autism and powerful psychers in here would probably make most of their minds explode. Heck, just say the "gamer word" and about half will faint.

I want so bad to have something useful to contribute to this convo. But back when I was "12 in 2007" I was warned to stay off 4chan, and so...I did. It was there, the entire time. And I missed that bus. To be fair I was playing funky truck on miniclip and watching super mario bros z. on NG and re-downloading GameFAQ guides for my GBA games at the time, but still, how can i _ever_ get that old web aesthetic now?? (light /s)
