Was thinking recently about how there is no real "counterculture" anymore. There is the monoculture that subsumes anything cool and original and commodifies it.
Very well illustrated, that's probably the most tragic aspect of our ever ramping up digitalization, there are no more niches. Everything is popular because there are enough retards with a phone on this planet to make every niche completely crowded, and worst of all they pull it into their fucking chinese data-hive to become a "punk influencer" and preach what is and isn't punk, making everything into an accessible, safe bitchy gossip-circle, all curated and spoonfed to you by a censored chink algorithm.

It's interesting how everything that was considered counterculture or alternative became completely mainstream, like punk, alternative rock, anime, video games, internet culture, aesthetic culture, and vaporwave etc, so sad
Punk and alt rock are still pretty underground, depending where you are. Like you have to know the right kind of people to get in the scene, y'know? Alt Rock gets played on the radio, but people don't really listen to punk on the radio. They don't play it. They don't play vaporwave on the radio. It's not really completely mainstream. Even country music is pretty alternative in the way. The outlaw country music is still going strong. What Willie and Waylon were doing before they made it, it's still going on. Real country doesn't get played on the radio because it's too dramatic. Anyway, people know ABOUT punk, but it's still weird to listen to, unless it's something like Black Flag, and then there's still a definitive picture about people who like that sort of thing. It's easier to find out about it, but theres still a very organic, local scene that has to be discovered without the internet unless you get very very very lucky.
Video games were never really counterculture. Like people staying at home playing video games and not going out into the world were losers, but they still are in my book. I thought wasting away in your room playing video games is a waste, and I still do. Anime was, I guess, but only because you had to private it to get it.

I can go very deep into the punk stuff for those who want to hear it, but I'm not going to spout it out without someone to hear it.

I think they miss whatever this is. I kinda do. But like I know everything was shit too just different type of striffe...

also rip 4chancore...
  • Lottie Clone:
    • Description: An online trend combining Cutecore with references to 4chan or imageboard culture, frequently involving controversial themes, based on the work of a single artist (Lottie).
    • Delete Reason: The page documents a trend that is strongly associated with the controversies surrounding the artist Lottie and the potential for harmful content within imageboard references (sexualization of minors, far-right extremism, depictions of animal abuse). The lack of distinctiveness from Cutecore and the risk of normalizing harmful content make deletion a recommended course of action.
(reason why it was deleted is just what tumblrina could think of.... this is why i hate this kind of "academia" (also same reason for 4chancoree, than mod is... ugh... (dont let me paste the doc link here again (will anyway: url)...
