Pornography Recovery Thread

nobodyhere

I don't think many people on this forum will disagree with the notion that pornography is, at least, harmfully addictive to many. Personally, I see it as a scourge on humanity that absolutely wrecks one's relationship with the opposite sex (and even the same sex, if you get brain dead enough) because porn makes you obsess over the intimate with strangers.

Clearly, I'm not the only one who holds this sentiment—my clamberings through 4chan have made that clear—so I thought I'd open a thread for those who are obsessed with pornography and want help. Let me say from personal experience that, yes, there is a way out.

I think it's worth posting this here.
For anyone struggling, this is a pretty good book that tries to change the way you think about pornography. Follow the directions, and it may be able to help.

Also, here is some research information on pornography in an easy-to-digest YouTube format.

this kind of rhetoric reminds me of those retarded boomers who say you can OD on pot or LSD will mke you go crazy, etc so on. it just makes no sense.
I don't see your point. The whole idea of pornography is that you're getting aroused by watching strangers have sex. In other words, you're obsessing over the intimate relations (and bodies) of strangers; relations which, in reality, don't even exist!
EDIT: Also, pot and LSD do make you go "crazy"—at least, if you go by a rather milquetoast definition of crazy as losing your standard cognitive abilities. Again, the whole idea of recreational drugs is to make you crazy, even if it's only briefly. Boomers might be boomers, but they have their points.

I successfully rejected pronography in late 2019. Very happy I did so. My head is a lot clearer now and I find myself making all sorts of discoveries about myself. Truly started to dig into philosophy, became less nihilistic, found God (and a number of other benefits). Pornography should be made illegal again.

you cannot prohibit harlots from displaying pussy. Showing off a body is considered speech, no matter how vulgar, and lewd the speech may be.

Gonna have to agree with Pangolin on the legality question. Canada at the moment is an excellent example of what happens when you ban speech, even if you have the purest of intentions. I've made my stance on pornography nauseatingly clear at this point, but trying to ban it is impractical and unethical.

Also! Not to post too many times consecutively, but I wanted to remind everyone watching that that this thread is for those who want help in overcoming pornography, not to debate the moral validity of pornography. Pornography being an evil has to be a foregone conclusion in this thread, because why would you want to recover if you were still on the fence about stopping?

If you wanna have a debate on its moral validity, though, then feel free to open a thread on it! I'm not your mom!

EDIT: One last thing; I'm not God! Shocker, I know. I don't have all the answers on this subject, so I would advise that those desiring recovery to read the following article; it looks at the problem from an eternal perspective. You don't have to read it, obviously, but this is a solid place to start: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/gospel-topics/pornography?id=p8#p8

I mean, is it? It was regularly prosecuted under obscenity laws until the 1960s (that is, in America). The way it was introduced into wider society was by attaching storylines to the pictures in pornographic magazines. This was done to get around regulations and claim it had some amount of artistic status and subsequently opened the flood gates. Of course an out and out, overnight ban would not be a good idea for several years but I think with the right policies we can push society into a direction where this stuff can be banned once more.

My entire income relies on people buying porn games on steam so imma have to say no to this one.
