Pornography Recovery Thread

I'm sorry you had to go through that. The worst part about the prevalence of pornography nowadays is the age in which people first view it. There's a lot of talk about "just don't watch it if you don't want to" which doesn't take into account that the average age people find this stuff is getting lower and lower. Last I checked it was 11 or 12 in the US. Its hard to argue that people choose to watch porn of their own free will when the average person gets hooked on it as a minor. Its impossible to avoid on the internet even with the strictest of filters sometimes and it negatively shapes people's perceptions of sex and relationships going into adulthood.
Yeah it's down to 8 now. There are reports of kids as young as 5 accessing it. It's really not funny anymore. The main issue is that there was virtually no stigma when I got into it. Stigma is there for a reason. Society has seemingly forgotten this.

There are reports of men in Rome pleasuring themselves to various statues. Pliny the Elder reported on it specifically and for most well-depicted nude there's a tale of the same, with one having the legend (I cannot recall the name of it currently) that it was permanently stained by "appreciation". This is what we're dealing with here. The only thing truly new with modern pornography is, like everything else in the modern world, magnitude. The act of masturbating to a single statue happens at an exponential scale - ten thousand statues a minute. This is an incredibly powerful force, and pornography's usage as a psychological weapon by the Israelis (and I think the South Koreans too?) shows it elegantly. I think specifically regarding the internet, there's a critical mass of quantity where it can become greater than itself, feeding itself and mutating to greater depths. The archetypal "coomer" is a product of not even the internet, but the internet as of 2015 or so - the magnitude simply wasn't there yet.

But, because this is a debate centered around NoFap, I need to be a bit more barbed than this, as the context of this discussion is one I can't ignore. Most things people become from the internet at fundamentally identical to pornography addiction, with one caveat - at least a porn addict is simple and understandable. Social media is a series of algorithmic hedonic treadmills of novelty-seeking behavior - at least when this algorithm delivers booba and all its weirder & weirder sequels, it's primal and blunt. What's truly degenerate, some strange mutation from beyond understanding, is when this algorithm delivers something which pretends to be above its own nature. Look at the average Twitter user with a flag in their bio/username, look at the average listener of podcast, browser of a commie meme subreddit or 4chan/pol/. What brings them to where they are now? Arguing on Discord how many angels can dance on the head of a pdf they procrastinate on reading? Who are they, but a liar? Plugging in, getting off, and driving oneself deeper and deeper into an addiction to illusory, hedonic activities... You are in McDonald's. You are eating the same food as Nikocado Advocado next to you, in the same quantities. Yet while he gobbles like the greedy pig he knows he is, you close your eyes and pretend you're plucking foie gras off a silver platter in the halls of Valhalla. More than depraved - it's dishonest - and that's a far greater sin than mere vice. Take off your veil and perceive your corpulent form with true eyes. As much pity and condescension I have for a porn addict, I have outright scorn and disdain for the average internet political sperg, like you commonly find on the anti-porn side of things. The only thing worse than an addict is a dishonest addict coping & seething that their addiction isn't what it is.

Well I haven't read much in the way of politics as of late (certainly not ideological politics) and have found my way to more philosophy and spirituality. Yes there is sometimes political undertones in this but I'd say it's the politics of self-improvement (which does tend to lean to the right). It's not about installing particular policies and ideologies so much as it is about promoting individual well-being and responsibility. I guess it is anti-Communist in a way?

And yes I would say you are right about 2015. It got way worse in 2015. Hentai was normalised after that and the variety expanded drastically.

comes from bad parenting and not monitoring what their kids are doing online.

it should be noted that there is a big dfference between a playboy like i had as a kid, and pornhub

finding a playboy in your dads closet or under your brothers bed is a magical event and innocent in its own way. kids having unlimited access to gangbangs, bukkakes and interracial shit

i like to think im a pretty average guy in terms of tastes and stuff....i feel sorry for girls who have an expectation to let their boyfriends throatfuck them until they puke

Eh, my mother is 60 now and had no idea what was out there. She can barely use a computer so how can you expect her to know what kind of stuff her son could access online? But yes things today are very bad. Hell a lot of people now find it weird to say you aren't into any of these degenerate things.

I don't think many people on this forum will disagree with the notion that pornography is, at least, harmfully addictive to many. Personally, I see it as a scourge on humanity that absolutely wrecks one's relationship with the opposite sex (and even the same sex, if you get brain dead enough) because porn makes you obsess over the intimate with strangers.

Clearly, I'm not the only one who holds this sentiment—my clamberings through 4chan have made that clear—so I thought I'd open a thread for those who are obsessed with pornography and want help. Let me say from personal experience that, yes, there is a way out.

Somehow, I thought this thread was going to have pr0n all over and I was gonna ask pirate if that's even allowed what is wrong with me costanzayeahrightsmirk

Great work to you trying help others get out of their addiction though.

My take as a person whos also experienced that lifestyle..maaaaan it sucks butts, LITERALLY ! Anything porn related from my life i do not remember fondly. Fellas you think fucking hot chicks is the end all be all, but it really truly is not. Very unfulfilling life imo. Poison for the mind and body and dare i even say soul. Thankfully im out of that and am now carving a purposeful path in my life. But i do agree porn can be destructively addictive and can completely ruin a potential healthy social life.

I can tell most of the guys on this thread are addicts themselves most likely. Most people who profit from porn or over indulge in it will care less if it harms the minds of newer upcoming generations.
